When the load needs more planning
For palletised goods, heavier freight, full loads, part loads and repeat transport. The correct body, loading method and receiving appointment matter as much as the journey between postcodes.

- Confirm forklift, dock, tail lift or other handling at both ends.
- Include site slots, access limits and any delivery sequence.
A part load can suit a flexible schedule. A dedicated vehicle or full-load arrangement may be more appropriate when timing, segregation or handling requirements demand it.

The smallest suitable vehicle is often the sensible starting point. It still needs enough usable space, payload and handling capacity, with safe access at collection and delivery.

Measure the goods as they travel
Include packaging, the pallet and any overhang in the length, width and height. Give the total freight weight and the weight of each item. Gross vehicle weight, such as 7.5t or 18t, is not the freight payload.
A load can fit inside the body but still fail to pass through the door, exceed the equipment rating or leave insufficient room to secure it. A photograph helps with awkward shapes, but it does not replace measurements.
A pallet count is only a starting point
A standard UK pallet is 1,200 × 1,000 mm; a Euro pallet is 1,200 × 800 mm. The loaded footprint may be larger. Confirm the actual dimensions, whether goods can be stacked, and any orientation restrictions.
Usable pallet positions depend on body dimensions, overhang, weight distribution, restraint space and delivery order. Refrigeration, cranes and mounted equipment can alter useful payload and loading arrangements.
How will it come off the vehicle?
Forklift or loading dock
Confirm that equipment and an authorised operator will be available at the booked time. Side loading may need a curtainsider or flatbed. A dock needs compatible vehicle height and a clear approach.
Tail lift and pallet truck
A tail lift lowers the load; a pallet truck moves it on a suitable surface. Check every weight on the platform, permitted handling method, footprint and load centre. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients need a different plan.
Crane, mounted forklift or a crew
A HIAB-type loader crane lifts; a MOFFETT-type truck-mounted forklift handles supported loads at ground level. Neither is interchangeable with two-person manual handling. Each needs its own access, capacity and operating-space assessment.

Then plan the journey.
A short distance across London can still involve a restricted approach, a booked bay and a long internal handover. Give the exact goods entrance and the time the site can accept delivery, not just the public address.
The City, Westminster & Central London
For offices, shops, hotels and professional services, supply the building, goods entrance, floor and named receiving contact. Reception opening hours and loading-bay hours may differ. Agree whether delivery is to a reception desk, loading bay or another point.
TfL loading bays have sign-specific hours and limits. Goods should be ready, and the vehicle must move once loading is complete. A loading bay is not a waiting place for an unprepared consignment. TfL red-route loading guidance.
Emissions and road-user charges
Check the assigned vehicle and route against the applicable ULEZ, LEZ and Congestion Charge requirements. These are separate schemes with different coverage and vehicle rules. Do not assume that an emissions-compliant vehicle is exempt from every road charge.
The job may also involve a charged river crossing. Confirm the route and relevant costs when quoting instead of using a universal London surcharge. Check TfL’s current driving schemes.
HGV safety permits
Lorries over 12 tonnes gross vehicle weight generally need a valid HGV safety permit to enter or operate in the scheme area covering most of Greater London. Confirm the actual vehicle’s permit and any applicable exemption before the movement. TfL Direct Vision Standard and permit guidance.
The safety permit is separate from emissions compliance, a site booking and permission to use a particular restricted road. A vehicle’s gross weight is also different from the freight payload it can carry.
Night and weekend lorry routing
The London Lorry Control Scheme covers goods vehicles over 18 tonnes maximum gross weight on restricted roads during controlled night and weekend periods. It is a route-control scheme, not a blanket ban on every lorry journey. London Councils’ route and permission guidance.
Supply the delivery time and precise entrance early so a suitable route and any required permission can be checked. The receiver’s own noise or planning restrictions may impose additional limits.
Canary Wharf, Docklands & river crossings
For Canary Wharf, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Greenwich, give the building or estate, service access, booking reference and security contact. Confirm bay height, turn space and whether the driver needs pre-registration. Requirements belong to the actual receiving site.
Blackwall and Silvertown tunnel charges can apply per crossing during charging hours. Vehicle restrictions also need checking for the chosen crossing. TfL tunnel charge and crossing guidance. A route suitable for a car may not suit a loaded delivery vehicle.
Park Royal, outer boroughs & regular rounds
Park Royal, Ealing, Brent, Enfield, Barking and Dagenham, Havering and the wider borough network include many different receiving arrangements. Confirm pallet counts and weights, forklift or dock access, site slots and unloading order.
For repeat store deliveries or a multi-stop round, share each address and window. Loading sequence, returns, empty pallets and the time spent at each stop need to be included in the plan.
Heathrow & London City Airport
For Heathrow freight, give the handling agent, cargo facility, goods reference and confirmed release or acceptance time. For London City Airport, identify the receiving business and goods entrance. A passenger-terminal address is not a complete freight instruction.
Confirm the handover location and driver instructions. Airport coverage does not automatically include airside permission, security clearance, customs services or every type of cargo handling.
Venues, residential streets & inside delivery
For an exhibition, film location, hotel or venue, send the organiser’s delivery instructions, slot, goods entrance and on-site contact. Tell us about build and breakdown collections, temporary access arrangements and any refrigeration needed at the venue.
For residential or inside delivery, provide the carry distance, stairs, lift dimensions, item weights and final placement. A pallet delivery to the kerb and two-person placement inside are different scopes. Parking or an access dispensation must be arranged where the job requires it.

London transport coverage does not mean that every listed town has a Synergix depot or storage facility.
Two-person delivery
For goods needing an agreed crew, explain item weights, the route from vehicle to delivery point, stairs, lifts and the final placement required. Photographs and access measurements help us assess the job.
Two-person delivery does not automatically include unpacking, assembly, installation or removal of packaging. Set out the required tasks so they can be agreed.
Temperature control & event refrigeration
Refrigerated transport needs the goods, required temperature range, collection condition, journey and handover arrangements specified. Confirm any monitoring or documentation requirements when enquiring.
Event refrigeration is a separate requirement for refrigeration at the venue. Share the event dates, access, positioning, power arrangements and collection time. A refrigerated delivery is not automatically an event-hire booking.

What affects the collection and deadline?
Start with when the goods will actually be packed, released and ready to load. The collection estimate depends on a suitable available vehicle, its position, access and any equipment needed.
Onward timing includes the journey, loading and unloading, traffic, receiving slots and applicable driving and working-time limits. There is no reliable universal miles-per-day promise for every vehicle or job.
We assess same-day, overnight, weekend and out-of-hours requirements against those details. Tell us the real deadline, including any earlier goods-in closing time.
What affects the price?
The quote needs to account for vehicle positioning, the loaded journey, vehicle/body choice, relevant route charges and the time involved at both ends. Waiting, extra stops, additional labour, specialist equipment and a return or onward movement can change the cost.
For Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, islands or European movements, give the destination and deadline early. Ferry availability, check-in times, onward access and the goods documentation need to be assessed together. Agree who supplies any customs information and clearance services.
A clear load description and receiving plan reduce avoidable uncertainty. The price is not simply fuel cost multiplied by the distance between two postcodes.

Your location and the delivery plan
How quickly can you collect from a London address?
We confirm the estimate using the address, goods-ready time, suitable vehicle and access. Courier collection around 45 minutes can be possible in many mainland areas, but London traffic, a controlled service yard or specialist equipment can change that estimate. An available driver nearby does not establish a workable loading or delivery slot.
Do you cover every London borough?
Yes, the directory includes every London borough and the City of London, plus Central London, Canary Wharf, Park Royal and the listed airport locations. Its 40 entries are coverage points, with separate courier and haulage buttons. Send the two postcodes and exact goods entrances so we can assess the movement.
What if my London office has no loading bay?
Tell us where a vehicle can legally and safely stop and how far the goods must travel to the handover point. Include floor, stairs, lifts, package size and weight. A reception address alone is not enough to plan bulky goods. Any required parking or access arrangement should be resolved before dispatch.
Does ULEZ compliance cover every London transport requirement?
No. Emissions schemes, the Congestion Charge, applicable tunnel charges, HGV safety permits, lorry routing and street or site rules are separate checks. The vehicle and planned route must be assessed against the requirements that apply. Meeting one standard does not grant a delivery slot or permission to stop.
Can a large lorry deliver at night or at the weekend?
It may be possible, with the appropriate route, permissions and receiving arrangements. The London Lorry Control Scheme affects vehicles over 18 tonnes maximum gross weight on controlled roads at specified times. The site may also restrict night unloading. Give the precise entrance and proposed time before a vehicle is committed.
What details help with a Canary Wharf collection?
Name the building and service entrance, collection contact, load and ready time. Ask the receiving organisation for bay height limits, booking or security references and permitted arrival times. These arrangements vary by site; do not use a general Canary Wharf address in place of the actual goods entrance.
Can you collect released cargo from Heathrow?
We can assess the road movement once the handling agent, facility, goods reference, confirmed release time and loading method are known. Agree any customs or security-related scope beforehand. A dedicated road vehicle is not by itself confirmation of airside access or the ability to handle every cargo type.
Can you move event equipment and collect it after breakdown?
We can assess both movements together. Send packaged dimensions, weights, event dates, venue instructions, loading slots and on-site contacts. Confirm when the goods will be ready after breakdown and whether a crew, equipment or event refrigeration is needed. These services and tasks must be agreed specifically.
Can one vehicle make several London deliveries?
We can discuss a multi-stop or regular distribution plan. Supply every address, receiving window, load allocation and return requirement. The total load, unloading sequence, parking and time at each stop affect vehicle suitability and price. Tell us which stops have fixed deadlines.
Can a London collection go directly elsewhere in the UK or Europe?
A dedicated road movement can connect the agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. The job must fit the ready time, distance, receiving hours and driver limits. European or ferry-linked work also needs crossing and documentation planning. Agree customs responsibilities; there is no universal daily-mileage promise.
Choosing, booking and managing the vehicle
Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?
A dedicated movement is normally collected and delivered on the same vehicle, travelling between the agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. Specify any extra stops, return collection or timed handover. If an unusual load or route needs a different arrangement, that should be discussed before booking. Shared or part-load haulage follows its agreed service plan.
Can you arrange evening, overnight or weekend transport?
Yes, we can discuss urgent and planned out-of-hours movements, and our phones are answered 24/7/365. Confirm that someone can release the goods and that the receiver will accept delivery at the proposed time. The suitable vehicle, equipment and driver schedule still need to be confirmed.
Do I need a courier van or a haulage vehicle?
Send the packaged length, width and height, item count, total weight and individual weights. A van may suit urgent parts or a compact load; multiple pallets, heavier freight or particular loading methods can need a rigid or articulated vehicle. We check the body, usable payload, door opening, loading equipment and access together. You do not need to choose the category before enquiring.
Can you deliver pallets without a forklift at the destination?
Possibly, using a suitable tail lift and pallet truck or another agreed handling arrangement. Give the loaded pallet footprint and weight, ground condition and distance to the handover point. Platform size, load centre and every weight carried on the lift must be checked. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients cannot be solved simply by requesting a tail lift.
When should I request an electric pump truck?
When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement, not a universal legal threshold. Lighter pallets may also need powered handling. The pallet, equipment, lift platform, surface and operating space must still be suitable.
Can LoadCheck tell me which vehicle to book?
LoadCheck gives a first estimate using packaged dimensions, weights and quantities. It does not confirm the door opening, available payload, lifting equipment, site access or vehicle availability for a particular booking. Use the result with the load details when you ask our team to confirm the movement.
How is the transport price worked out?
The quote depends on the actual load, vehicle and equipment, positioning and loaded journey, timing, route charges and time at both sites. Extra stops, waiting, additional crew or specialist handling can alter it. Send both postcodes, dimensions, weights, readiness and deadline for a job-specific quote.
Will I receive tracking and proof of delivery?
Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the contact, update method and any named recipient or delivery-reference requirement when booking. If the load, collection point or receiving slot changes, contact us promptly so suitability, timing and price can be reassessed.
