When the load needs more planning
For palletised goods, heavier freight, full loads, part loads and repeat transport. The correct body, loading method and receiving appointment matter as much as the journey between postcodes.

- Confirm forklift, dock, tail lift or other handling at both ends.
- Include site slots, access limits and any delivery sequence.
A part load can suit a flexible schedule. A dedicated vehicle or full-load arrangement may be more appropriate when timing, segregation or handling requirements demand it.

The smallest suitable vehicle is often the sensible starting point. It still needs enough usable space, payload and handling capacity, with safe access at collection and delivery.

Measure the goods as they travel
Include packaging, the pallet and any overhang in the length, width and height. Give the total freight weight and the weight of each item. Gross vehicle weight, such as 7.5t or 18t, is not the freight payload.
A load can fit inside the body but still fail to pass through the door, exceed the equipment rating or leave insufficient room to secure it. A photograph helps with awkward shapes, but it does not replace measurements.
A pallet count is only a starting point
A standard UK pallet is 1,200 × 1,000 mm; a Euro pallet is 1,200 × 800 mm. The loaded footprint may be larger. Confirm the actual dimensions, whether goods can be stacked, and any orientation restrictions.
Usable pallet positions depend on body dimensions, overhang, weight distribution, restraint space and delivery order. Refrigeration, cranes and mounted equipment can alter useful payload and loading arrangements.
How will it come off the vehicle?
Forklift or loading dock
Confirm that equipment and an authorised operator will be available at the booked time. Side loading may need a curtainsider or flatbed. A dock needs compatible vehicle height and a clear approach.
Tail lift and pallet truck
A tail lift lowers the load; a pallet truck moves it on a suitable surface. Check every weight on the platform, permitted handling method, footprint and load centre. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients need a different plan.
Crane, mounted forklift or a crew
A HIAB-type loader crane lifts; a MOFFETT-type truck-mounted forklift handles supported loads at ground level. Neither is interchangeable with two-person manual handling. Each needs its own access, capacity and operating-space assessment.

Factories, city centres
and event deliveries.
The M6, M5, M42 and M54 connect the region, but the goods entrance and receiving window determine the last part of the job. Share those details before the vehicle is selected.
Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford & North Staffordshire
Our operations team is based in Stoke-on-Trent. For local collections in Stoke, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Stone, Stafford, Leek and Cheadle, send the release time, dimensions and weights, and the receiver’s actual deadline. Being nearby does not automatically make the required vehicle available.
Fragile stock, samples and production parts need appropriate packaging and restraint. Tell us whether the goods must stay upright, cannot be stacked or need an agreed handling crew.
Birmingham & the Black Country
For Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, West Bromwich, Halesowen and Stourbridge, identify the goods entrance, bay or service road and any permitted loading window. Older industrial yards may need vehicle-height, turning and side-loading checks.
Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone covers the area inside the A4540 Middleway, excluding the Middleway itself. Check the assigned vehicle and route against current requirements. Compliance does not remove ordinary loading or street restrictions. Official Birmingham Clean Air Zone guidance.
Coventry, Rugby & Warwickshire appointments
For Coventry, Nuneaton, Rugby, Warwick, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon, send the purchase or delivery reference and booked goods-in time. A production-line part, retail replenishment and a pallet delivery to a warehouse have different timing and presentation needs.
State whether a missed appointment requires a new booking, and allow for unloading and checks at the gate. For repeating journeys, share volume, frequency and return-load or packaging requirements.
The NEC, Solihull & Birmingham Airport
For NEC stand deliveries during event build, the venue directs exhibitors to book a rear-of-hall slot through Voyage Control. Breakdown arrangements differ. Provide the event, hall, stand, vehicle-entry door and on-site contact, then confirm the current event instructions. NEC delivery and exhibitor parking guidance.
For Birmingham Airport, name the handling agent or receiving business, exact freight or goods entrance and release reference. A passenger-terminal address is not a freight instruction. Agree any security, customs or specialist handling scope separately.
Telford, Shropshire & rural Staffordshire
For Telford, Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Market Drayton, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Uttoxeter and surrounding rural premises, confirm the usable approach, gate width and height, gradients and turning area. Photographs help us assess the final access.
A tail lift needs a suitable operating area. A pallet truck will not make an uneven farm track or soft ground suitable, and requesting a smaller vehicle still requires a payload and load-space check.
Worcestershire, Herefordshire & planned rounds
For Worcester, Hereford, Kidderminster, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Evesham, Malvern and Droitwich Spa, include the unloading point and distance to the handover. Shops, venues, farms and business parks need different plans.
For Cannock, Lichfield, Tamworth, Burton upon Trent and Rugeley distribution work, share the stop sequence and receiving windows. Tell us about two-person handling, chilled transport or event refrigeration early so the correct service can be assessed.

Regular haulage & retail distribution
For repeat factory collections, store replenishment and depot-to-depot deliveries, share the frequency, weekly volumes, stop sequence and receiving windows. Planning the whole route can be more useful than treating every delivery as an isolated urgent job.

Two-person delivery
For goods needing an agreed crew, explain item weights, the route from vehicle to delivery point, stairs, lifts and the final placement required. Photographs and access measurements help us assess the job.
Two-person delivery does not automatically include unpacking, assembly, installation or removal of packaging. Set out the required tasks so they can be agreed.
Temperature control & event refrigeration
Refrigerated transport needs the goods, required temperature range, collection condition, journey and handover arrangements specified. Confirm any monitoring or documentation requirements when enquiring.
Event refrigeration is a separate requirement for refrigeration at the venue. Share the event dates, access, positioning, power arrangements and collection time. A refrigerated delivery is not automatically an event-hire booking.

What affects the collection and deadline?
Start with when the goods will actually be packed, released and ready to load. The collection estimate depends on a suitable available vehicle, its position, access and any equipment needed.
Onward timing includes the journey, loading and unloading, traffic, receiving slots and applicable driving and working-time limits. There is no reliable universal miles-per-day promise for every vehicle or job.
We assess same-day, overnight, weekend and out-of-hours requirements against those details. Tell us the real deadline, including any earlier goods-in closing time.
What affects the price?
The quote needs to account for vehicle positioning, the loaded journey, vehicle/body choice, relevant route charges and the time involved at both ends. Waiting, extra stops, additional labour, specialist equipment and a return or onward movement can change the cost.
For Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, islands or European movements, give the destination and deadline early. Ferry availability, check-in times, onward access and the goods documentation need to be assessed together. Agree who supplies any customs information and clearance services.
A clear load description and receiving plan reduce avoidable uncertainty. The price is not simply fuel cost multiplied by the distance between two postcodes.

Can your Stoke team arrange an urgent collection elsewhere in the West Midlands?
Yes, our Stoke-on-Trent operations team can assess the job across the region. Courier collection around 45 minutes may be possible in many mainland areas, subject to the actual address, load and available suitable vehicle. A team based in Stoke is not a promise that a vehicle is already at every regional collection point.
Which places are included in the West Midlands directory?
There are 41 entries covering the main cities and towns, including Birmingham, Coventry, the Black Country, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire, plus Birmingham Airport. We can assess surrounding villages and business sites from the two postcodes and access details.
Will a Birmingham Clean Air Zone charge apply to my delivery?
That depends on the assigned vehicle and route. The relevant standards and any charge must be checked for the movement. Do not assume that every vehicle or specialist conversion has the same status. Other access rules, loading windows and bus gates still need checking even where an emissions charge does not apply.
What information should I send for an NEC stand delivery?
Send the event, build or breakdown date, hall and stand, nearest vehicle-entry door, contact and goods details. Confirm the current event instructions and any delivery booking. The venue’s build and breakdown arrangements differ, and unloading access is not permission to leave the vehicle parked behind the hall.
Can you collect released freight at Birmingham Airport?
We can assess a road collection when the handling agent, exact facility, release reference and ready time are confirmed. Include loading arrangements and any required driver instructions. Airside permission, customs clearance or specialist cargo work must be expressly agreed rather than assumed.
Can you collect from farms or narrow rural sites in Shropshire and Herefordshire?
We can assess the approach and handling with the load details. Send gate and access measurements, photographs, surface and turning space, and any known route restrictions. Explain how the goods will be loaded and unloaded. A small vehicle, tail lift, crane and mounted forklift solve different problems.
Can a West Midlands same-day delivery travel directly to a distant customer?
A dedicated movement can travel between the agreed points without a parcel hub. We first check readiness, journey, loading, receiving hours and applicable driver limits. There is no standard miles-per-day figure that guarantees every deadline. For repeat deliveries, a planned schedule may suit better than booking each as urgent.
Can you arrange onward European transport from the Midlands?
We can discuss the goods, destination, deadline and handling, including the appropriate crossing and documentation. Send precise collection and delivery details and confirm who supplies customs information. Road, ferry and receiving times must work together before the service and price are agreed.
Choosing, booking and managing the vehicle
Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?
A dedicated movement is normally collected and delivered on the same vehicle, travelling between the agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. Specify any extra stops, return collection or timed handover. If an unusual load or route needs a different arrangement, that should be discussed before booking. Shared or part-load haulage follows its agreed service plan.
Can you arrange evening, overnight or weekend transport?
Yes, we can discuss urgent and planned out-of-hours movements, and our phones are answered 24/7/365. Confirm that someone can release the goods and that the receiver will accept delivery at the proposed time. The suitable vehicle, equipment and driver schedule still need to be confirmed.
Do I need a courier van or a haulage vehicle?
Send the packaged length, width and height, item count, total weight and individual weights. A van may suit urgent parts or a compact load; multiple pallets, heavier freight or particular loading methods can need a rigid or articulated vehicle. We check the body, usable payload, door opening, loading equipment and access together. You do not need to choose the category before enquiring.
Can you deliver pallets without a forklift at the destination?
Possibly, using a suitable tail lift and pallet truck or another agreed handling arrangement. Give the loaded pallet footprint and weight, ground condition and distance to the handover point. Platform size, load centre and every weight carried on the lift must be checked. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients cannot be solved simply by requesting a tail lift.
When should I request an electric pump truck?
When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement, not a universal legal threshold. Lighter pallets may also need powered handling. The pallet, equipment, lift platform, surface and operating space must still be suitable.
Can LoadCheck tell me which vehicle to book?
LoadCheck gives a first estimate using packaged dimensions, weights and quantities. It does not confirm the door opening, available payload, lifting equipment, site access or vehicle availability for a particular booking. Use the result with the load details when you ask our team to confirm the movement.
How is the transport price worked out?
The quote depends on the actual load, vehicle and equipment, positioning and loaded journey, timing, route charges and time at both sites. Extra stops, waiting, additional crew or specialist handling can alter it. Send both postcodes, dimensions, weights, readiness and deadline for a job-specific quote.
Will I receive tracking and proof of delivery?
Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the contact, update method and any named recipient or delivery-reference requirement when booking. If the load, collection point or receiving slot changes, contact us promptly so suitability, timing and price can be reassessed.
