What Synergix provides
Tail Lift Delivery
A tail lift bridges the height between a suitable vehicle and the ground. It does not lift over walls, replace a crane or make every heavy pallet movable. The actual platform, load centre (where the load balances on the platform), all weight on the lift and the route across the ground must work together.
A suitable platform
More than a headline capacity
Give the pallet or item’s loaded dimensions and gross weight. Any pallet truck, operator and equipment on the platform also contribute to the operating load. Platform size and load position can restrict a job before the vehicle payload is reached.
Ground handling
The lift is only one stage
Goods still need moving safely onto and away from the platform. State the surface, slope, kerbs, thresholds and distance. Gravel, soft ground, steps and gradients can make a proposed pallet-truck route unsuitable.
Customers, goods and situations
Ground-level handover without a loading bay
A suitable powered platform transfers compatible goods between the vehicle floor and ground. The whole handled load and the route across the receiving surface need to work together.
Who needs tail-lift delivery?
A suitable tail lift can help where the goods need a powered transfer between the vehicle and ground, with a workable route for handling the load.
Shops and business receivers
Receive stock without a loading bay
Suitable palletised goods can be lowered at an agreed receiving position. Confirm a usable parking/unloading area, surface and receiving contact; a tail lift does not remove restrictions caused by kerbs, steps or public access.
Suppliers and manufacturers
Collect or deliver packed goods
A collection point without a forklift may need ground-level loading. Give the packed load, pallet condition and equipment requirements at both ends, so the complete transport and handling can be matched.
Equipment and fit-out teams
Handle a bulky item without assuming carrying
Suitable furniture, fixtures or equipment may benefit from platform unloading. Explain its base, wheels/support and stability. Carrying into a room, unpacking or installation remains a separate scope to agree.
Types of loads we transport
Select a category for the details that change the transport plan.
- Palletised business goods
- Retail and warehouse deliveries
- Heavy individual pallets
- Bulky items and equipment
Palletised business goods
Sound pallets, secure packaging and compatible fork entry are important. Include overhang and loaded height as well as the footprint. Tell us if the pallet is top-heavy, fragile or unevenly loaded.
Retail and warehouse deliveries
Tail-lift unloading may suit a receiver without a loading bay, provided there is a safe working area and appropriate ground. Confirm parking, public/pedestrian access and the agreed handover point.
Heavy individual pallets
Where pallet-truck handling is required for an individual loaded pallet of 800 kg or more, an electric pump truck must be arranged. This is Synergix’s booking rule, not a universal legal safe-lifting threshold. Lower weights can also need powered equipment.
Bulky items and equipment
Non-palletised goods need their own handling assessment. Wheels, bases, supports and stability matter. Carrying an item into a room or fitting it in place is a separate task to agree, not automatic tail-lift delivery.
Jobs to plan together
These examples explain an enquiry brief. Your load and site determine the actual arrangement.
The job
A delivery without a loading bay
The receiver has firm, suitable ground but no dock. Provide pallet sizes/weights, parking and the handover point so a suitable lift and truck can be assessed.
The job
A heavy stock collection
A packed pallet needs ground-level loading. Confirm its weight, pallet condition and collection surface, with powered equipment requested where required.

Practical booking help
Plan the platform and the whole ground route
Start with reliable goods information and the people releasing and receiving the consignment. Flag missing details rather than guessing.
Loading, unloading and access
Give us the actual conditions at both ends so the equipment and service can be agreed before dispatch.
Check 01
Weight on the platform
Provide true load weight and dimensions, and identify the handling equipment required. The actual lift specification and load position decide suitability. Do not use the whole vehicle payload as the lift capacity.
Check 02
A level working area
Describe the surface, slope, drainage covers and traffic/pedestrians around the vehicle. The operator needs space to open and use the platform safely.
Check 03
Powered handling when needed
Arrange an electric pump truck for individual loaded pallets of 800 kg or more where pallet-truck handling is needed. Consider lower weights too where gradient, surface, distance or control makes manual movement unsuitable.
What to prepare before booking
You do not need to select a lift rating. Give the facts needed to check the vehicle, platform and ground movement.
The complete handled load
Obtain packed size and gross weight
Ask the sender for measured outer dimensions and weight including pallet, packaging and attached parts. Identify overhang, damaged packaging, uneven balance and fork-entry direction. Load centre concerns the balance position on the platform, so item weight alone is not enough.
Platform and handling equipment
Declare what must travel on the lift
Any permitted operator, pallet truck and other equipment on the platform contribute to its load and space requirements. Where pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet of 800 kg or more, arrange an electric pump truck. This is Synergix’s booking rule; lower weights may still require powered help after assessment.
The receiving route
Photograph more than the parking place
Show the complete path to the agreed handover point, with distance, slopes, kerbs, thresholds, covers and clear doorways. Describe the surface and space around the deployed platform. Gravel, soft ground and steps cannot be treated as an ordinary pallet-truck route.

Timing and price factors
A clear brief lets us quote the service your work needs.
Coverage and availability
Agree the workable schedule
Tail-lift work is confirmed against the suitable vehicle, platform and handling equipment. Give the true loading/unloading conditions at both ends. A general truck booking or a courier response estimate does not automatically include the required lift.
Quotation
What affects the price
Vehicle size, route, platform/equipment requirement, weight, unloading time, access and waiting affect the quote. Electric pump-truck provision and any additional handling must be included in the agreed booking.
Agree equipment and receiving responsibilities
For a one-off load or repeated deliveries, the quotation should cover the actual handling and finish point.
Operating brief
Keep each receiving site in the plan
Share routes, usual and peak loads, sites, delivery windows, contacts and the agreed unloading point. Specify the lift and powered handling required, report unsuitable packaging or changed surfaces, and define any carrying or extra staff requirement. Tracking and POD support receipt; extra reporting is agreed separately.
Supplier and commercial review
Make the limits and changes clear
Raise required equipment-document, competence and cover questions with sales for the actual job. Discuss waiting, changed handling, failed access, redelivery and additional work before commitment. Provide supplier approval, PO and invoice instructions, with proposed account/payment requirements for agreement.
Useful booking questions
Tail-lift delivery FAQs
Direct answers to the choices and practical requirements that affect this service.
What does a tail lift do?
It raises or lowers suitable goods between the vehicle floor and ground. The load, platform and ground-handling arrangement must all be suitable for the operation.
How heavy a pallet can you tail-lift?
It depends on the actual platform, load centre, size and all weight on it. Send gross weight and dimensions so the lift and handling equipment can be checked.
When do I need an electric pump truck?
Arrange one where pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet of 800 kg or more. Lower weights may also need powered help depending on the task and ground.
Is 800 kg a legal safe-handling limit?
No. It is Synergix’s booking requirement for electric pump-truck provision in that situation. It does not establish that lighter loads are safe to move manually.
Can you unload onto gravel or grass?
Do not assume so. Pallet-truck movement needs suitable ground, and the actual surface, gradient and load must be assessed. Send photographs and describe the route.
Does the driver move the pallet into my building?
Only if that scope and the route are agreed. Doorways, thresholds, gradients, distance, floor and equipment can change what is possible.
Can you lift a pallet over a wall?
A tail lift cannot do that. A suitable crane arrangement or another unloading plan may be needed, assessed against the load and site.
Is a pump truck always on the vehicle?
Do not assume it. State the requirement before booking, including whether electric equipment is needed. We confirm the actual equipment for the job.
Can the lift be used on a sloping road?
The working position needs assessment for the actual vehicle, platform and load. Tell us about gradients in advance; the operator may reject an unsuitable position.
What if the pallet is damaged?
Tell us before collection. It may need repacking or different equipment. A tail lift does not make an unstable or damaged load safe to handle.
What does load centre mean on a tail lift?
It concerns where the load’s balance point sits on the platform. A long pallet or an unevenly loaded item can use the platform differently from a compact, evenly distributed load of the same weight. Send packed dimensions, gross weight, pallet orientation and any known heavy end. The operator checks the actual lift’s load-position limits; you do not need to calculate a safe rating yourself.
Does a pallet fitting inside the truck mean it will fit the lift?
No. The platform and the transfer route have separate limits. Include overhang, handling equipment and the space needed to manoeuvre the complete load. A long pallet may need side loading with a forklift or another agreed method even when it fits along the vehicle floor.
Can you collect as well as deliver using the tail lift?
Yes, where the vehicle, lift, load and site conditions are suitable and agreed. Describe both collection and delivery surfaces, equipment and handover points. A workable delivery does not establish that ground-level loading at collection will also work.
What if the unloading surface or parking changes?
Tell the team promptly, with photographs or revised access information. The operator checks the actual conditions before using the equipment. If the position or route is unsuitable, waiting, another position, different equipment or redelivery needs agreement; the goods should not be forced through an unsafe arrangement.
