What Synergix provides
Contract Haulage
Contract haulage turns repeat movements into an agreed transport programme. Instead of arranging every journey separately, you establish the normal routes, operating days, load profile, capacity and change process with the transport team.
When a programme helps
Regular collections, warehouse transfers or repeated distribution rounds benefit from one operating brief. The team can plan suitable vehicles, loading time and appointments around your usual work, with forecasts and firm bookings clearly separated.
What you commit to
Define the work period, booking process, agreed capacity and service responsibilities. Exclusive vehicle use, named drivers, branded vehicles or guaranteed spare capacity are specific arrangements to agree. A contract does not automatically include each of them.
When individual bookings fit
A one-off or uncertain requirement may be better handled as separate movements until the pattern is clear. Compare the real workload, notice, equipment and service needs before committing to a programme. The useful choice is the arrangement that supports your operation.
Customers, goods and situations
Repeat routes with a clear operating agreement
Contract work is useful when repeated movements need consistent planning and a defined process for changes. It can cover a lane, agreed operating days or a wider programme.
Manufacturers with inter-site lanes
Plan a repeated flow of components, finished goods or equipment between factories and warehouses. Include loaded and return legs, release times, handling and what the receiving operation needs first.
Buyers coordinating suppliers
Bring several supplier collections into a workable schedule. Accurate releases, quantities and service times matter, with a clear contact when goods are not ready or the order changes.
Distribution and seasonal teams
Set out normal rounds, peaks, store appointments, returns and vehicle restrictions. Agree the base work and how extra or reduced activity is requested, rather than assuming unlimited capacity at the same price.
Types of contract work
Select a category for the details that change the transport plan.
- Repeat factory and warehouse lanes
- Supplier collection programmes
- Store and business distribution
- Capacity and peak support
Repeat factory and warehouse lanes
For regular transfers, provide site hours, load profiles, handling and expected trip frequency. Identify whether the vehicle returns empty, brings back goods or exchanges trailers.
Supplier collection programmes
Share the supplier list, order release process and usual collection readiness. Consolidated route planning depends on accurate quantities, service times and a clear escalation contact when stock is not ready.
Store and business distribution
Scheduled deliveries need stop lists, appointments, vehicle restrictions, returns and handling requirements. Store replenishment is separate from an assumed pallet-network product.
Capacity and peak support
If demand changes through the year, send the forecast and notice available. Agree base capacity, how extra work is requested and what is subject to availability rather than assume unlimited vehicles at a fixed rate.
Jobs to plan together
These examples explain an enquiry brief. Your load and site determine the actual arrangement.
The job
A repeat inter-site route
A business moves freight between the same sites each week. Share the usual load and timings, then plan vehicle capacity and a clear process for changed days or additional loads.
The job
A distribution programme
Several receivers need regular deliveries. A stop schedule, unloading brief, returns plan and volume forecast allow the transport to be assessed as one operation.

From brief to completion
How the service works
Agree the goods, timing, equipment and responsibilities so collection and handover follow one workable plan.
- Describe a representative week
Provide sites, operating days, load sizes and weights, loading times, receiving slots, returns and the expected start date. Separate the firm requirement from forecasts and peaks.
- Build the operating brief
Match vehicle bodies, equipment, driver duties and appointments to the actual programme. Confirm release authority, site contacts, references and any extra handling or reporting.
- Agree start-up and commercial scope
Set the capacity commitment, booking and notice process, pricing inclusions, waiting and extra-work treatment. Agree supplier-approval questions, contacts, mobilisation actions and the review points before the first movement.
- Run and communicate
The agreed schedule guides collections and deliveries. Live tracking and POD support visibility, with changes or exceptions raised through the nominated contacts so revised work can be authorised.
- Review and adjust the programme
Use the agreed delivery evidence and reviews to discuss volumes, service issues, new sites or changed timings. Apply the agreed notice and change process; renewal, reduction or ending arrangements follow the actual terms.
Practical booking help
Prepare the load and both sites
Start with reliable goods information and the people releasing and receiving the consignment. Flag missing details rather than guessing.
Loading, unloading and access
Give us the actual conditions at both ends so the equipment and service can be agreed before dispatch.
Check 01
A complete operating brief
Document freight, vehicles, handling, route, site rules and the delivery boundary. Specific equipment, carrying, returns or stock checks need to be included in the scope.
Check 02
A workable schedule
Allow for loading, waiting, traffic and lawful driver duties. Identify hard deadlines and the points with some flexibility. A timetable needs to work in the yard as well as on the road.
Check 03
Clear review and change control
Agree contacts, reporting, exceptions and commercial reviews. Bespoke KPIs, integrations, branded vehicles, dedicated named drivers or guaranteed spare capacity require explicit agreement.
Preparing your first booking
Prepare a real transport schedule
Start with an ordinary week and show peak and quiet periods. Include goods-ready times, loading durations, delivery windows and return work. A route’s mileage alone does not describe the vehicle duty.
Define the service finish point
State who loads and unloads, whether equipment, carrying, stock checks or returns are required and how each site accepts delivery. Include vehicle restrictions, safe access and any supplier or site approval requirements.
Agree how the programme starts and changes
Identify who provides information, approves bookings and authorises extra work. Discuss mobilisation, forecasts, notice periods, reviews and operational exceptions. Share unknowns early instead of treating provisional demand as committed capacity.

Coverage and availability
Agree the workable schedule
UK contract work can be arranged for agreed schedules, with European lanes assessed individually. Start-up time depends on the programme, equipment and required capacity. Share peaks early so the plan can reflect the work you expect.
Quotation
What affects the price
Frequency, mileage, vehicle/body, loading and waiting, equipment, route pattern and committed capacity affect contract pricing. Base work, additions, standing time and review mechanisms should be explicit rather than assumed.
Purchasing and ongoing work
Compare the same operating scope
Compare quotations using the same routes, load profile, days, receiving windows, equipment, service boundary and capacity commitment. Make waiting, extra stops, returns, tolls or fuel-review arrangements visible.
Set the visibility and purchasing requirements
Tracking, electronic POD and the registered-customer portal are established capabilities. Agree references, additional reports, reviews, PO and invoice requirements. Bespoke integrations, credit or fixed service levels need explicit agreement.
Define continuity and contingency needs
Explain what continuity matters for your customers and what happens if demand or receiving arrangements change. Named drivers, a fixed vehicle or reserved backup capacity are specific commitments to agree and price.
Useful booking questions
Contract haulage FAQs
Direct answers to the choices and practical requirements that affect this service.
What is contract haulage?
An agreed arrangement for repeat transport over a defined programme or period. It specifies the work, capacity, service, booking process and commercial terms.
Can you cover a regular weekly route?
Yes. Share the days, locations, freight, loading and delivery windows. We can assess suitable vehicles and an agreed repeat arrangement.
Does it include a dedicated vehicle?
Only where dedicated capacity is part of the agreement. State whether you need exclusive use, a particular body or defined availability so it can be priced clearly.
Can you provide the same driver every day?
Tell us if continuity matters. A named driver or fixed vehicle is a specific arrangement to agree, not an automatic promise of every contract.
Can the volume change?
Yes, with an agreed process. Share forecasts and notice requirements so extra capacity, reduced days or different loads can be assessed and priced.
Can you manage returns?
Returns can be included. Define the goods, quantities, loading, destination and paperwork so they fit the vehicle and duty.
Do you provide KPI reports or integrations?
Bespoke reporting and integrations must be agreed. Tracking and POD are established benefits, but do not imply an automatic custom system connection.
Can the programme include night work?
Yes, subject to the duty and receiver arrangements. Include all operating hours, site rules and contacts in the brief.
Is contract work a pallet-network service?
No. Synergix does not offer pallet-network services. This page covers the actual regular haulage and distribution arrangement agreed for your business.
How do we start?
Send a representative transport schedule, freight profile, site requirements and expected start date. We will establish the scope and quotation before the programme is booked.
When is contract haulage better than booking individual jobs?
It can help when repeat routes, regular days or a distribution pattern justify one operating agreement. The useful comparison includes planning time, required capacity, notice, equipment and the commitments involved. One-off or highly uncertain work can remain individual bookings until the pattern is clear.
What should we agree before the programme starts?
Define the routes, load profile, operating days, capacity, site responsibilities, booking and change process, contacts, price scope and review points. Include mobilisation and the information needed before the first movement. A particular start date or vehicle commitment is confirmed in the agreement.
Can we reduce or end the programme?
The agreed terms set notice, changes, renewal or ending arrangements and any commercial consequences. Raise likely volume reductions or a changed requirement early. Do not assume a forecast or rolling booking can be cancelled without the agreed process.
