Your load.
The right vehicle.

Browse the van, rigid, articulated and specialist options, then open a vehicle guide for dimensions, body types and loading advice. You can ask for a particular vehicle or let us work from your load details.

Vehicle illustrations show example bodies. We confirm the actual vehicle, usable space, payload and equipment for your booking. Specialist configurations are subject to suitability and availability.

01 / Same-day & dedicated courier

Stornoway courier.
A direct delivery.

Urgent local collections and a ferry-dependent mainland journey need different timing assessments. For a released component, document, instrument or stock delivery, give the goods entrance, ready time and receiver’s latest acceptance time. We assess the suitable vehicle, handling and complete journey before agreeing the arrangement.

Urgent business consignments

Documents, engineering parts, samples, tools, print, boxed stock and IT equipment can all need a dedicated courier. The smallest suitable vehicle depends on the packaged goods, not the label “parcel”. Send the quantity, dimensions and weights.

A server, delicate prototype or finished component needs packaging that protects it during loading and travel. Tell us if it must stay upright, cannot be stacked or needs a named recipient.

Pallets and bulky items

Courier work can include a suitable pallet or bulky consignment. We check the vehicle aperture, usable space, payload and unloading method. A pallet does not automatically fit a van just because it fits on the floor.

For heavier loads, several pallets or specialised unloading, see the haulage guidance. You can enquire without choosing the lorry first.

How quickly can we collect?

Stornoway collection times depend on the actual address, suitable available vehicle and loading. A Scottish-mainland journey also needs the chosen sailing, commercial booking requirements, required check-in, crossing and onward handover. Call with the ready time and deadline for an estimate. Rigids, artics, refrigerated bodies and specialist equipment require individual vehicle, route and ferry checks.

Collection speed is only part of the plan. Tell us when the goods will be released, how long loading will take and the receiver’s latest acceptance time. A ready-to-load town collection and a mainland shipment waiting for a ferry have different time limits. Confirm goods release, loading, the operator’s booked commercial check-in, sailing and final receiving slot. Weather, service changes, vehicle availability and deck space can affect timing. A quote does not reserve a sailing or establish an automatic same-day island service.

Stornoway collections and onward UK delivery

For Arnish fabrication, a Ropework Park food producer, a Plasterfield receiver or a town business, give the precise unit, goods-in entrance and named contact. Packed components and stock need their release or delivery reference, dimensions, individual weights and latest receiving time.

Say whether the goods are already on Lewis, coming from the mainland or require another island connection. Declare temperature-sensitive contents, batteries, cylinders or regulated goods before quotation. Agree the road leg, crossing, any transfer and final handling so the actual movement can be assessed.

Updates, proof of delivery and repeat work

Our team remains your contact for the movement. Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available; agree any named-recipient, signature, photograph or reference requirements when booking.

We also assess scheduled supplier collections, branch transfers, multi-stop work and repeat courier routes. Phones are answered 24/7/365. The vehicle, crew and access at each end are confirmed for the booking.

02 / General & dedicated haulage

Stornoway haulage.
Planned around the load.

For dedicated pallet transport, heavier engineering freight or a regular trailer movement, Synergix arranges the vehicle and driver around your load, handling and receiving requirements. Options include 7.5t, 18t and 26t rigids, full artics and suitable specialist configurations.

Dedicated pallet transport

Tell us the actual loaded footprint, height, weight and whether the freight can be stacked. A nominal pallet size does not include a crate, machine or packaging that projects beyond it.

We arrange a dedicated vehicle for your palletised goods, with collection, delivery and loading agreed for your job. Our team coordinates the movement and remains your point of contact. Tell us about fragile freight, specific handling or a timed delivery when booking.

Full loads, part loads and repeat work

A full vehicle can support larger consignments, stock transfers, production schedules and loads needing dedicated capacity. Agree the body, floor space, payload and loading order.

Part-load haulage can also be discussed where a suitable arrangement is available. Agree its collection window, delivery plan and handling before booking. For regular work, send your collection frequency, usual volumes, busy periods, site opening hours and return-load requirements.

Choose the body as well as the lorry size

Box and curtainsider

A box body uses its specified door opening and loading arrangement. A curtainsider can allow suitable forklift loading from the side. Check clear aperture, side access and restraint; curtains alone are not a universal load-securing system.

Flatbed, crane and mounted forklift

Long material, machinery or a delivery without a forklift may need a different body or handling method. A HIAB-type crane and MOFFETT-type forklift do different jobs. Supply load weights, lifting points or fork access, required reach and site photographs.

Temperature-controlled loads

Specify the product, required temperature, collection condition, packaging and monitoring or handover records. A refrigeration unit changes the vehicle specification; confirm its actual payload and space.

Articulated and specialist trailers

Curtainsider, box, refrigerated, flatbed and specialist trailer requirements are assessed individually. A long or heavy item needs its full dimensions, weight distribution and loading plan checked. The illustrated range does not establish suitability for every load.

Getting it off matters just as much

Confirm a forklift, loading dock, tail lift or other agreed equipment at both ends. For a tail-lift delivery, we need the individual item weight, footprint, all weight on the platform, permitted handling method, load centre and the surface beyond the lift.

When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement. Lower weights can also need powered handling. A tail lift and pallet truck do not automatically solve gravel, slopes, steps or an unsuitable pallet.

Read our tail-lift and pallet-truck guidance.

Timed deliveries and urgent haulage

Fabricated assemblies, palletised trade stock, packed equipment and repeat supplies need their full footprint, height, total and individual weights. Describe supports, fork access, lifting points, protection, orientation and stackability. For a ferry movement, the complete loaded vehicle, lashing, operator acceptance and all transfer handling must be assessed. Regular Stornoway work can be discussed around volumes, crossings, receiving slots, stop order and returns.

Urgent rigid or artic capacity can be assessed by our team. It does not carry the van collection estimate. Vehicle positioning, loading time, traffic, site appointments and applicable driver-hours limits determine the plan. UK, Ireland and European freight may also need ferry and goods-document arrangements.

Local work. Different requirements.

Transport shaped
by Stornoway.

Stornoway’s transport requirements connect Arnish’s engineering and energy fabrication, harbour-related activity, local food production, textiles and trade stock. Use the actual goods and receiving point to plan protection, loading, the crossing where needed and the final handover.

Arnish engineering and energy

Components and fabricated assemblies

Navantia UK’s September 2026 primary update describes Arnish’s specialist steel fabrication for energy, subsea infrastructure and renewable projects. A replacement part, packed machine or fabricated assembly can have different release, lifting, restraint and receiving requirements.

Give the full packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, supports, lifting points or fork access. Confirm the authorised goods entrance, release reference and receiver. An urgent component and an oversized assembly need separate vehicle, route and ferry assessments; the site name alone does not establish access or acceptance.

Food production and seafood

Specify the product and its protection

Charles Macleod’s primary information identifies island food production and its Ropework Park premises in Stornoway. The port authority also identifies fishing and aquaculture activity. Food stock, seafood, packaging and production equipment can require different handling and temperature plans.

State the actual goods, collection condition, required temperature, packaging, quantities and weights, with monitoring or handover records where needed. Loading, waiting, the crossing and final acceptance must suit the product. Suitability and the required body are confirmed before booking.

Textiles and town trade

Protect stock through every handover

The Harris Tweed Authority’s current directory identifies a Stornoway independent weaver on Lewis Street and other producers at separate island addresses. Textile rolls, yarn, samples, finished goods and shop stock need the actual collection and receiving point, rather than a general island or brand name.

Give the packaged length, footprint, height and weight, with moisture protection, orientation and handling instructions. Confirm goods-in, loading position and receiving times. For repeated replenishment, add volumes, frequency, ferry requirements and returns. Named organisations provide local context, not claims of a customer relationship.

Distribution, property and events

Plan the route and final placement

Town shops, Plasterfield trade receivers, harbour businesses, venues and property deliveries can need a regular load or urgent replacement at a specific time. A shop frontage, industrial unit and venue entrance may have different stopping, unloading and placement requirements.

Discuss retail distribution, warehousing, cross-docking, two-person delivery and specialist handling within the full arrangement. Stationary event refrigeration is separate from refrigerated road transport. Give venue, duration, power where relevant, surfaces, steps and final placement, with equipment availability and island scope checked.

Local sector context: Navantia UK’s current Arnish update and Charles Macleod’s production and local premises and Harris Tweed Authority’s producer directory. Named organisations provide local context, not claims of Synergix customers.

The last mile matters

Routes, loading
& site access.

Confirm the real terminal, yard or goods entrance. Stornoway’s town ferry terminal, harbour piers, Arnish industrial receivers and the Deep Water Terminal are separate arrival points. The complete vehicle, crossing and last-road access need their own checks.

Stornoway and Ullapool crossings

CalMac’s Stornoway port information identifies the bookable Ullapool connection. Confirm the sailing, full vehicle and load, any transfer, booked space and required arrival procedure. A public timetable or quotation does not establish that a freight place has been reserved.

Use its commercial booking instructions. Credit-account bookings and vehicles 6m or over require contact with National Accounts or the local port. Its commercial check-in answer directs drivers to their eTicket and timetable. Reconfirm those instructions rather than applying a generic passenger or another operator’s cutoff.

Arnish and the correct receiving point

The dated Arnish Road investment update identifies the A859 connection to Arnish Point, the industrial complex and Deep Water Terminal. An announced upgrade is not confirmation that the road is complete or unrestricted for the journey. Check current receiver and site instructions.

Distinguish the fabrication yard, terminal, town piers and goods-in. Give the authorised gate, unit, delivery reference, slot and contact. Agree loading equipment and the precise road-leg scope. A road booking does not automatically include cargo release, customs clearance, a port crane operation or vessel-side entry.

Town approaches and lawful loading

For Rigs Road, Ropework Park, Plasterfield or a central receiver, confirm the full address, goods entrance, lawful stopping point and unloading path. A frontage may not be the stock-handling entrance. Check turning, overhead limits, ground, kerbs, steps and final placement for the assigned vehicle.

Use the council’s roads and travel information and current order index, together with applicable signs and receiver instructions. A dated speed proposal or historical event closure is not proof of every current restriction. Urgency does not override access controls.

Loaded vehicle and onward island routes

CalMac’s weight guidance assesses the complete vehicle, loading and axle distribution, with abnormal loads discussed with the port. Its guidance says Stornoway and Ullapool vehicles are weighed at the port; contents and relevant properties still need to be supplied. A vehicle guide is not boarding permission.

For another island connection, specify the island, route, operator, full vehicle and load, transfer arrangements and final-road access. Road-connected Lewis and Harris work differs from a further crossing. Vessel, deck and terminal limits can vary; confirm the actual commercial arrangement and follow operator instructions.

Confirm the last few metres

Describe the ground, slope, kerb, steps, loading bay and final placement. Photos help with a narrow yard or awkward entrance. A tail lift lowers goods; it does not move a pallet over gravel, up steps or through a doorway.

Stornoway and surrounding areas

Where is your
collection?

We assess Stornoway and surrounding Lewis collections and deliveries, with agreed onward UK journeys. A road-connected Lewis or Harris address and a further ferry connection need their own access and timing checks. These are coverage areas, not Synergix branches; vehicle availability, loading, crossings and final-road handover are confirmed for the job.

Town and named receiving points

Individually confirmed Stornoway town, Rigs Road, Ropework Park, Plasterfield, Marybank and Sandwick addresses.

Give the actual unit, goods entrance, contact, lawful stopping point, receiving time and equipment.

Arnish and harbour-related work

Agreed Arnish industrial, Deep Water Terminal and town harbour receiving points, each separately identified.

Confirm the gate, release reference, road access, loading plan and exact port or yard handover scope.

Road-connected Lewis and Harris

Proposed Newmarket, Back, Ness, west Lewis, Tarbert and other road-connected island addresses.

Share both full addresses and the approach suitable for the assigned vehicle, with final placement and unloading checked.

Mainland and further island connections

Agreed Stornoway–Ullapool and onward UK movements, or separately assessed additional island routes.

Confirm commercial bookings, check-in, crossing, transfers, loaded vehicle acceptance and the complete receiving deadline.

A useful enquiry. A clearer quote.

Tell us the job.
We will help plan it.

  1. The two addressesCollection and delivery postcodes, company/unit names, goods entrances and a contact at each end.
  2. What needs movingGoods description, item or pallet count, packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, stackability and photographs where useful.
  3. When it is readyDate, ready time, latest arrival, goods-in closing time and any booked slot or reference. Identify fixed deadlines.
  4. How it will be handledForklift, dock, tail lift, pallet truck, crane or crew at both ends. Include surface, aperture and vehicle-access limits.
  5. Any special requirementFragile finish, temperature, regulated goods, multiple stops, returnable packaging, returns or agreed final placement.
  6. Updates and repeat workYour preferred contact, delivery evidence and, for regular transport, frequency, expected volumes and seasonal peaks.

What affects the price?

Vehicle positioning, loaded distance, vehicle/body type and time at collection and delivery all contribute. Waiting, additional stops, handling equipment, extra labour, route charges and a return journey can alter the quote.

For ferry or European work, route timing and goods-document requirements also matter. We quote the actual movement; there is no single Stornoway mileage price that fits every load.

What happens if something changes?

Tell us promptly about an extra pallet, heavier item, delayed release, changed entrance or missed slot. We can reassess the vehicle, deadline and cost before an unsuitable arrangement causes a problem.

An enquiry is the start of the conversation. Vehicle allocation, timing, handling and price are confirmed for the booking.

Courier and haulage
coverage in Stornoway.

Stornoway and the surrounding area

The map shows Stornoway’s town and surrounding geography on Lewis. It is a coverage-area map, not a Synergix office, reserved ferry place or individual freight gate. Confirm the exact town terminal, Arnish receiver, harbour point or final address required by the job. Send both full addresses and the correct goods entrances when enquiring.

This is an area map. It does not mark a Synergix office, establish a fixed service boundary or provide HGV routing. Our team confirms collection, delivery and access for the job.

Before you book

Stornoway transport
questions answered.

Courier, timing and delivery

How quickly can you collect in Stornoway?

Give the exact address, ready time, goods and latest receiving time. Local collection depends on a suitable available vehicle and loading. A ferry-dependent journey also needs the booked commercial arrival instructions, sailing, crossing, transfers and final road leg. We assess the complete movement before agreeing an estimate; a mainland collection-time example is not a Stornoway guarantee.

Can you deliver from Stornoway to another part of the UK on the same day?

Local same-day work and a ferry-dependent mainland delivery need different assessments. Give both full addresses, contents, ready time and deadline. The available vehicle, goods release, commercial check-in, sailing, crossing, transfers and final unloading must fit the plan. Weather and service changes can affect the arrangement. We confirm what is feasible before booking.

What can a dedicated courier carry?

Courier work can include documents, parts, samples, print, IT equipment, technical cases, boxed stock and suitable bulky or palletised goods. Give the packaged dimensions, quantities and individual weights so we can assess the vehicle, loading and receiving arrangements.

Will a dedicated courier load stay on the same vehicle?

Agree the road legs, ferry and any transfer points before booking. An accompanied vehicle, unaccompanied load and mainland handover have different protection and handling needs. Tell us if the goods must stay on one vehicle or require a named handover or record so suitability and the complete arrangement can be confirmed.

Can I call at night or at the weekend?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7/365. Call to discuss the load and confirm a suitable vehicle and plan. Someone must be available to release the goods and accept them at the agreed times.

How will I receive delivery updates and proof of delivery?

Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the updates and evidence you need when booking, including a named recipient, signature, photograph or delivery reference.

Haulage, vehicles and unloading

Do I need a courier or a haulage arrangement?

Start with the goods and deadline. An urgent part, technical case or suitable pallet may need a courier. Heavier freight, larger volumes, specialist bodies or repeat loads may need haulage. Send the load and site details and we will help you choose.

Can you arrange dedicated pallet transport in Stornoway?

Yes, we assess dedicated pallet movements with collection, delivery and a suitable vehicle agreed for the job. Send the loaded footprint, height, individual weights, quantity, stackability and loading at both ends. Synergix does not offer pallet-network services.

Can you discuss full loads, part loads and regular deliveries?

Yes. Full loads, regular haulage and supported part-load arrangements can be discussed. Agree the body, loading, collection window and delivery plan. Part-load availability is assessed individually; it is not a pallet-network product.

How do I choose a van or lorry, and can LoadCheck help?

Measure each item as it will travel, including packaging, the pallet and overhang. Enter packaged dimensions, weights and quantities into LoadCheck for an initial size estimate. Our team confirms actual fit, usable payload, apertures, restraint, equipment, access and availability.

What if the delivery site has no forklift?

Tell us before booking. A suitable tail lift, mounted forklift, crane or agreed crew may be an option, depending on the goods and site. Send item weights, dimensions, fork access or lifting points, ground conditions and final placement. These handling methods solve different problems and must be agreed.

When must I request an electric pump truck?

Under Synergix’s booking rule, request an electric pump truck when pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more. Lighter pallets may also need powered handling. Platform load, footprint, ground and the actual equipment still need checking.

Can you assess a crane or mounted-forklift delivery?

Yes. Send the precise goods, individual weights, dimensions, lifting points or fork access, required placement and photographs of the unloading area. Crane reach and support conditions differ from forklift access. Suitability, equipment and availability are confirmed for the job.

Can you arrange refrigerated transport or event refrigeration?

We can assess both, with the product, required temperature and handover agreed. Refrigerated transport moves goods under an agreed temperature arrangement. Stationary event refrigeration provides storage at a venue. Tell us which you need, the duration, access and any power requirement.

Stornoway access and local handovers

Can a commercial vehicle use the general Stornoway passenger check-in time?

Follow the commercial instructions for the booked movement. CalMac says commercial check-in varies and is shown on the eTicket and timetable. Confirm the complete vehicle and load, sailing, booked space and required arrival procedure. The general port page’s passenger or vehicle guidance is not a substitute for your actual commercial deadline; late arrival can lead to space being reallocated.

Can every business van or credit-account booking be completed online?

Check the chosen operator’s commercial booking instructions for the actual vehicle and account. CalMac directs credit-account bookings and vehicles 6m or over to National Accounts or the local port, and commercial amendments go through its staff. Declare the true vehicle type and dimensions. Do not assume another ferry operator’s small-van rule applies or that a quote reserves space.

Does an Arnish delivery use the town ferry terminal entrance?

Identify the actual receiver, gate, unit, reference and contact. Arnish’s fabrication yard, Deep Water Terminal, town piers and CalMac’s ferry terminal are different handover points. Check current road and site instructions, loading equipment and release status. A general Stornoway address or area map does not identify the authorised goods-in or establish vessel-side access.

What should I provide for a food or temperature-sensitive shipment?

State the actual product, required temperature, collection condition, packaging, quantities and weights, with any monitoring or handover record. Include the ready time, crossing where needed, waiting and latest receiving time. Food, seafood, packaging and equipment need different assessments. Suitable transport and acceptance are confirmed before booking; a local food destination does not define the temperature plan.

Is the announced Arnish Road upgrade proof of unrestricted access?

Check the latest site and receiver instructions for the intended journey. A dated investment or construction announcement does not confirm completion, an unrestricted road or an approved route for every vehicle. Give any known height, weight, turning, surface or loading constraint and agree the lawful approach. The area map helps identify geography; it does not approve an HGV route.

Can regular island shipments be planned around a chosen crossing?

Send both addresses, usual contents, full dimensions and weights, volumes, frequency, target crossing, goods-ready times, receiving slots and returns. We assess the available vehicle, loading, commercial requirements, transfers and final handover as one arrangement. Discuss what happens if the goods are late or the service changes. A repeated route does not reserve deck space or fix an automatic price.

Price, booking and changes

What affects the price of a Stornoway courier or haulage job?

Vehicle positioning, route, crossing arrangements, body, deadline, waiting, loading, transfer handling, extra stops, equipment and additional labour can affect the quote. Provide full goods and site information, including the actual island, terminal and final-road scope. A passenger fare or road-only mileage rate does not price the complete freight movement.

How do I book, and what happens if the job changes?

Request a quote or call with both addresses, packaged dimensions, individual and total weights, quantities, ready time, deadline, contacts and handling at both ends. We confirm the vehicle, plan and price for the booking. Tell us promptly about added goods, delayed release or a changed slot so we can reassess.

Can you discuss warehousing, retail distribution or two-person delivery?

Yes. Send the usual route, frequency, volumes, receiving windows and seasonal peaks. Warehousing, cross-docking, retail distribution and agreed two-person handling can be considered within a wider arrangement. Storage location, handling scope, availability and commercial terms are agreed separately.
