01 / Same-day & dedicated courier

Durham courier.
A direct delivery.

A Durham collection can be a small urgent part, delicate equipment or commercial stock. We arrange dedicated delivery around the actual goods and receiving deadline. Identify the business or department, release contact and lawful goods entrance before dispatch.

Research equipment, trade parts and stock

Give the precise collecting business, unit, release contact and reference. Send the complete packed dimensions and individual weights, with protection, upright-only or fragile-goods instructions.

Disclose batteries, chemicals or controlled goods before acceptance. A business address or industry description does not establish suitable loading equipment or permission for every consignment.

Stock, project supplies and suitable pallets

Commercial stock, print, equipment cases and suitable pallets can need a dedicated collection or delivery. Include packaging and projections, quantity and individual weights.

Confirm loading staff, forklift or other equipment and receiving arrangements at both ends. Bulky pieces can need more usable room than compact heavy parts. Discuss crew, placement and heavier freight through the haulage guidance.

Ready time, vehicle and receiving deadline

A van collection in Durham may be possible in around 45 minutes, subject to the actual location, goods and suitable vehicle availability. Call for an estimate for your job. Rigids, artics and specialist equipment need a separate availability check.

Collection readiness, loading and the recipient’s acceptance window matter alongside the road journey. A university reception opening time is not a freight appointment. Identify fixed deadlines and any restricted access before asking for a same-day plan.

Local collection and onward UK delivery

For a Mountjoy department, a Bailey college or a Belmont unit, give the precise building and goods entrance. The university occupies different parts of the city, so a general campus name is insufficient. For peninsula deliveries, establish the current vehicle route and receiving arrangements.

The ready time, route and latest receiving time determine whether a same-day movement is achievable. European work also needs goods documents and customs responsibilities agreed. A collection estimate is not a delivery guarantee.

Updates and repeat collections

Our team remains your point of contact. Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available; agree the recipient, updates and any signature, photograph or reference requirement when booking.

Scheduled supplier runs, stock transfers and out-of-hours enquiries can also be discussed. Our phones are answered 24/7/365. Timing, vehicle allocation and site access are confirmed for the booking.

02 / General & dedicated haulage

Durham haulage.
Planned around the load.

For dedicated pallet transport, heavier engineering freight or a regular trailer movement, Synergix arranges the vehicle and driver around your load, handling and receiving requirements. Options include 7.5t, 18t and 26t rigids, full artics and suitable specialist configurations.

Dedicated pallet transport

Tell us the actual loaded footprint, height, weight and whether the freight can be stacked. A nominal pallet size does not include a crate, machine or packaging that projects beyond it.

We arrange a dedicated vehicle for your palletised goods, with collection, delivery and loading agreed for your job. Our team coordinates the movement and remains your point of contact. Tell us about fragile freight, specific handling or a timed delivery when booking.

Full loads, part loads and repeat work

A full vehicle can support larger consignments, stock transfers, production schedules and loads needing dedicated capacity. Agree the body, floor space, payload and loading order.

Part-load haulage can also be discussed where a suitable arrangement is available. Agree its collection window, delivery plan and handling before booking. For regular work, send your collection frequency, usual volumes, busy periods, site opening hours and return-load requirements.

Choose the body as well as the lorry size

Box and curtainsider

A box body uses its specified door opening and loading arrangement. A curtainsider can allow suitable forklift loading from the side. Check clear aperture, side access and restraint; curtains alone are not a universal load-securing system.

Flatbed, crane and mounted forklift

Long material, machinery or a delivery without a forklift may need a different body or handling method. A HIAB-type crane and MOFFETT-type forklift do different jobs. Supply load weights, lifting points or fork access, required reach and site photographs.

Temperature-controlled loads

Specify the product, required temperature, collection condition, packaging and monitoring or handover records. A refrigeration unit changes the vehicle specification; confirm its actual payload and space.

Articulated and specialist trailers

Curtainsider, box, refrigerated, flatbed and specialist trailer requirements are assessed individually. A long or heavy item needs its full dimensions, weight distribution and loading plan checked. The illustrated range does not establish suitability for every load.

Getting it off matters just as much

Confirm a forklift, loading dock, tail lift or other agreed equipment at both ends. For a tail-lift delivery, we need the individual item weight, footprint, all weight on the platform, permitted handling method, load centre and the surface beyond the lift.

When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement. Lower weights can also need powered handling. A tail lift and pallet truck do not automatically solve gravel, slopes, steps or an unsuitable pallet.

Read our tail-lift and pallet-truck guidance.

Timed deliveries and urgent haulage

A booked Belmont warehouse delivery, a factory shutdown or a construction delivery needs more than an arrival postcode. Send the booking reference, goods entrance, vehicle limits, loading method and a contact who can accept the load.

Urgent rigid or artic capacity can be assessed by our team. It does not carry the van collection estimate. Vehicle positioning, loading time, traffic, site appointments and applicable driver-hours limits determine the plan. UK, Ireland and European freight may also need ferry and goods-document arrangements.

Local work. Different requirements.

Transport shaped
by Durham.

Durham city combines university and research handovers, Belmont and Dragonville commercial freight, and a historic centre with particular access constraints. The named organisations establish local context, not Synergix customer relationships. The transport examples help identify the goods, handling and receiving details needed for an enquiry.

University / Mountjoy and city buildings

Research and technical equipment

Durham University identifies distinct campus areas, including Mountjoy, Elvet and the peninsula. Equipment cases, instruments, IT supplies and print may need a handover to a specific department.

Provide the building, authorised recipient and packing instructions. Declare batteries, chemicals, regulated samples or temperature requirements before acceptance. A general university address does not establish the right goods-in team.

Belmont / Dragonville

Commercial units and stock movements

Council employment and planning records identify Belmont and Dragonville as Durham city industrial or commercial areas. Workshop parts, trade stock and palletised goods can require dedicated or regular transport.

Send the unit and dispatch contact, body or loading-side needs, total and individual weights, and the forklift or dock arrangement. For repeat work, include volumes, frequency and receiving windows.

Peninsula / city-centre businesses

Retail, venue and fit-out handovers

City-centre stock, technical cases and fit-out materials need a workable handover, particularly where the goods entrance is separate from the visitor entrance.

Agree lawful loading, carrying distance, steps and final placement. A van may simplify physical access but does not bypass road controls. Ask about crew or equipment when goods cannot be moved safely by the agreed driver arrangement.

Wider County Durham / Sedgefield

Electronics, space and defence supply chains

Filtronic identifies its manufacturing facility at NETPark in Sedgefield, serving space, defence and communications. Sedgefield is a separate town in County Durham, not a Durham city factory.

For an enquiry linking Durham with a supplier elsewhere in the county, describe the actual components, packaging and receiving instructions. Controlled or sensitive goods and site-security requirements need assessment before acceptance. No customer relationship or clearance is implied.

Local context: Filtronic NETPark manufacturing announcement.

The last mile matters

Routes, loading
& site access.

The historic peninsula, university buildings and outer commercial estates need different approaches. Check the exact address, complete vehicle route and unloading point. Paying a road charge does not itself grant access through a pedestrian restriction.

Peninsula charge and pedestrian controls

Durham’s peninsula has a Road User Charge scheme alongside separate pedestrian and vehicle-access restrictions. Check the current boundary, operation, vehicle conditions and permitted approach for the actual job.

Use the council’s scheme guidance and current signs. Do not assume that a delivery is exempt or that paying the charge permits every street or loading point.

College and department handovers

Identify whether the movement is for Mountjoy, Elvet, a Bailey college or another university building. Obtain current department goods-in instructions and a named recipient.

Confirm the approach, access permission, room or loading bay, unloading staff and final placement. Visitor parking or pedestrian directions do not establish HGV access or a loading appointment.

A1(M), A690 and outer commercial areas

The A1(M) and A690 connect wider movements with Durham. Belmont and Dragonville jobs still need their precise unit, gate and loading side before a vehicle is dispatched.

Check height, width, weight and turning limits on the complete approach. Provide the receiver’s slot and release reference. Roadworks and current diversions should be checked for the date of the movement.

Pallets, ground and carrying distance

For a pallet or bulky item, confirm forklift or dock availability, usable tail-lift space and the surface to the receiving point. Slopes, kerbs, steps and narrow doors can change the handling plan.

Request an electric pump truck when pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more. Lower weights can also need powered handling. Assembly, internal carrying and installation require separate agreement.

Check official major-road conditions for the job date. Notify us promptly about changed gates, delayed releases or missed appointments so timing, equipment and price can be reassessed.

A useful enquiry. A clearer quote.

Tell us the job.
We will help plan it.

  1. The two addressesCollection and delivery postcodes, company/unit names, goods entrances and a contact at each end.
  2. What needs movingGoods description, item or pallet count, packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, stackability and photographs where useful.
  3. When it is readyDate, ready time, latest arrival, goods-in closing time and any booked slot or reference. Identify fixed deadlines.
  4. How it will be handledForklift, dock, tail lift, pallet truck, crane or crew at both ends. Include surface, aperture and vehicle-access limits.
  5. Any special requirementFragile finish, temperature, regulated goods, multiple stops, returnable packaging, returns or agreed final placement.
  6. Updates and repeat workYour preferred contact, delivery evidence and, for regular transport, frequency, expected volumes and seasonal peaks.

What affects the price?

Vehicle positioning, loaded distance, vehicle/body type and time at collection and delivery all contribute. Waiting, additional stops, handling equipment, extra labour, route charges and a return journey can alter the quote.

For ferry or European work, route timing and goods-document requirements also matter. We quote the actual movement; there is no single Durham mileage price that fits every load.

What happens if something changes?

Tell us promptly about an extra pallet, heavier item, delayed release, changed entrance or missed slot. We can reassess the vehicle, deadline and cost before an unsuitable arrangement causes a problem.

An enquiry is the start of the conversation. Vehicle allocation, timing, handling and price are confirmed for the booking.

Before you book

Durham transport
questions answered.

Courier, timing and delivery

How quickly can you collect in Durham?

A van collection may be possible in around 45 minutes, subject to the address, goods and a suitable available vehicle. Call with the ready time and deadline for an estimate. Lorries, refrigerated vehicles and specialist equipment need their own availability and positioning check.

Can you deliver from Durham elsewhere in the UK today?

It may be possible, depending on when the goods are ready, loading time, vehicle position, road conditions and the receiver’s latest acceptance time. Give us both addresses and the actual deadline. We assess the complete movement before confirming a plan.

Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?

A dedicated courier movement normally stays on the same vehicle between the agreed collection and delivery points, without a parcel-network sorting hub. Tell us about additional stops, a return collection or any unusual route requirement so the arrangement is clear before booking.

Can I call at night, at weekends or on bank holidays?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7/365. Call to discuss the movement and confirm the suitable vehicle, handling and receiving arrangements. Someone must be available to release the goods and accept them at the proposed times.

How will I know the goods have been delivered?

Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the updates and receiving evidence you need when booking, including any named-recipient, signature, photograph or delivery reference requirement.

What happens if collection is delayed or the delivery slot changes?

Contact our team promptly. A later release, changed receiving slot or additional waiting can affect the vehicle, driver schedule, arrival plan and cost. Give us the new ready time and receiver’s instructions so we can reassess the movement.

Haulage, vehicles and handling

Do I need a courier or a haulage service?

Start with what needs moving and the deadline. An urgent component, parcel or suitable pallet may need a dedicated courier. Heavier freight, larger volumes, specialist bodies or repeat work may need a haulage arrangement. Send the load details and we will help you choose.

Can you arrange dedicated pallet transport in Durham?

Yes, we assess dedicated pallet movements with the vehicle, collection and delivery agreed for the job. Send the loaded footprint, height, individual weights, quantity, stackability and unloading arrangements. Synergix does not offer pallet-network services.

Can you arrange full loads, part loads and regular haulage?

We can discuss full loads, regular work and supported part-load arrangements. The collection window, delivery plan, body, loading method and availability must suit the job. A part-load enquiry is assessed individually; it is not a pallet-network product.

How do I choose the right van or lorry?

Measure each item as it will travel, including packaging, the pallet and any overhang. Give the quantity, individual and total weights, stackability and any orientation limit. We check the actual load space, aperture, working payload, equipment and site access. Vehicle gross weight is not cargo payload.

Can I use LoadCheck before asking for a quote?

Yes. Enter packaged dimensions, item weights and quantities for an initial vehicle-size estimate. Send the result with your enquiry. LoadCheck does not confirm actual vehicle fit, restraint, loading equipment, payload, availability or a booking.

Open LoadCheck

What if the receiving site has no forklift?

Tell us before booking. A suitable tail lift, mounted forklift, crane or agreed handling crew may be an option, but they solve different problems. We need the item weights, dimensions, fork access or lifting points, surface and final placement. Equipment does not come with every vehicle.

When must I request an electric pump truck?

Under Synergix’s booking rule, request an electric pump truck when pallet-truck handling is required for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more. Lighter pallets can need powered handling too. Check the lift and platform capacity, footprint, all weight on the platform, ground and handling method. The threshold is not automatic proof of safe handling.

Do goods need packaging for a dedicated journey?

Yes, they need packaging suitable for the goods and the planned handling. A dedicated vehicle does not remove the risk of movement during loading and travel. Protect fragile surfaces, sharp edges and delicate equipment; tell us about upright-only, non-stackable or special restraint requirements.

Can you provide refrigerated transport or event refrigeration?

We can assess both, with the product, temperature and handover requirements agreed. Refrigerated road transport moves goods under an agreed temperature arrangement. Stationary event refrigeration provides storage at a venue. Explain which you need, the duration, access and any power requirement.

Durham access and local handovers

Does paying Durham’s road charge let a courier reach every peninsula address?

No. The Road User Charge and pedestrian or vehicle-entry restrictions are separate checks. Establish the current lawful approach, any applicable charge and the receiving business’s loading instructions before dispatch. A delivery booking does not create an exemption, and a small van still needs permitted road access.

What do you need for a university equipment delivery?

Give the department, exact building, goods entrance, named recipient and appointment. Identify packed dimensions, weight, fragile or upright-only requirements and unloading equipment. Declare batteries, chemicals, regulated samples or temperature needs before acceptance. Mountjoy, Elvet and Bailey college handovers require their own instructions.

Can you collect pallets from Belmont or Dragonville?

We can assess the load when you provide the unit, actual loaded pallet dimensions, individual weights, stackability and loading equipment. Give the delivery appointment and receiving equipment too. For pallet-truck handling at 800 kg or more per loaded pallet, request an electric pump truck; actual equipment capacity and ground must still be suitable.

Can a lorry deliver to a narrow city-centre entrance?

Only if the complete approach and unloading point are lawful and suitable for that vehicle and load. Send access dimensions, signed restrictions, photos, steps and carrying distance. A smaller vehicle or separately agreed handling arrangement may be needed. Check the actual peninsula and pedestrian controls rather than relying on a general postcode route.

Price, booking and ongoing work

What affects the price of a Durham courier or haulage job?

Vehicle positioning, route distance, body and vehicle type, waiting, unloading, handling equipment, additional stops and the deadline affect the quote. Give accurate load and site details. Tell us about changes before dispatch so we can explain any effect on the arrangement or price.

What information do you need to book?

Send both full addresses and goods entrances, contact details, ready time and latest delivery time, item quantities, packaged dimensions, individual and total weights, stackability and loading equipment at both ends. Include access restrictions, references, photographs and any special handling or temperature requirement.

Can you discuss regular deliveries, warehousing or two-person work?

Yes. Give your usual route, frequency, volumes, receiving windows and seasonal peaks. Warehousing, cross-docking, retail distribution and agreed two-person delivery can be considered as part of a wider arrangement. Storage location, handling scope, availability and commercial terms are agreed separately.

Does sending an enquiry confirm my booking?

No. An enquiry starts the discussion. The vehicle, collection and delivery plan, handling, price and booking acceptance must be confirmed. A generated enquiry reference or LoadCheck result does not establish vehicle allocation or successful email delivery.
