Your load.
The right vehicle.

Browse the van, rigid, articulated and specialist options, then open a vehicle guide for dimensions, body types and loading advice. You can ask for a particular vehicle or let us work from your load details.

Vehicle illustrations show example bodies. We confirm the actual vehicle, usable space, payload and equipment for your booking. Specialist configurations are subject to suitability and availability.

01 / Same-day & dedicated courier

St Albans courier.
A direct delivery.

St Albans combines a busy city centre with office, light-industrial and distribution areas. Nearby research and engineering destinations have their own locations and receiving procedures. Dedicated courier movements travel between agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub.

Urgent parts and business equipment

Tools, print, IT equipment, protected instruments and commercial stock can need a dedicated vehicle. For Alban Park, Porters Wood or a city-centre business, give the current unit, releasing contact and goods entrance. State complete packed sizes and weights rather than relying on an item name.

Give the exact business, unit, release reference and named recipient. Include complete packed dimensions, individual weights and protection, orientation or no-stacking instructions. Declare batteries, chemicals, fluids and controlled contents before acceptance.

Commercial stock and suitable pallets

Dedicated enquiries can include boxed stock, print, IT equipment and suitable pallets. Include the loaded footprint, overhang, height, quantity and individual weights. A floor-space fit does not establish door clearance, payload or safe loading.

For a heavy assembly, several pallets or a location without a forklift, describe handling at both ends. Our haulage guidance explains larger bodies and equipment. You can ask us to assess the goods without choosing a lorry first.

Collection readiness and the receiving deadline

Confirm when the goods are packed, cleared for release and ready for loading, then identify the recipient's latest acceptance time and any slot. A factory, campus or venue opening time is not automatically freight receiving permission. Tell us about any change before dispatch.

Call with both addresses and the actual deadline. We confirm a suitable available vehicle and a realistic collection estimate for your job. Specialist bodies and heavier vehicles need their own availability check.

Local collection and onward UK delivery

Collections can be assessed across St Albans, Marshalswick, Fleetville, Park Street and nearby commercial addresses. Harpenden, London Colney, Hatfield and Markyate are distinct places. Confirm the actual location and recipient rather than assuming a St Albans postal reference means the city centre.

Give the exact unit, goods entrance, release contact and recipient. A public reception or visitor entrance may not be the freight handover point.

Updates, delivery evidence and regular routes

Our team remains your contact. Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available; agree the named recipient, signature, photograph or reference requirements when booking.

Scheduled supplier collections, branch transfers, multiple stops and repeat courier routes can be assessed. Phones are answered 24/7/365. Timing and loading at every stop are confirmed for the booking.

02 / General & dedicated haulage

St Albans haulage.
Planned around the load.

For dedicated pallet transport, protected equipment, commercial pallets or regular supplier loads, Synergix arranges the vehicle and driver around your load, handling and receiving requirements. Options include 7.5t, 18t and 26t rigids, full artics and suitable specialist configurations.

Dedicated pallet transport

Tell us the actual loaded footprint, height, weight and whether the freight can be stacked. A nominal pallet size does not include a crate, machine or packaging that projects beyond it.

We arrange a dedicated vehicle for your palletised goods, with collection, delivery and loading agreed for your job. Our team coordinates the movement and remains your point of contact. Tell us about fragile freight, specific handling or a timed delivery when booking.

Full loads, part loads and repeat work

A full vehicle can support larger consignments, stock transfers, production schedules and loads needing dedicated capacity. Agree the body, floor space, payload and loading order.

Part-load haulage can also be discussed where a suitable arrangement is available. Agree its collection window, delivery plan and handling before booking. For regular work, send your collection frequency, usual volumes, busy periods, site opening hours and return-load requirements.

Choose the body as well as the lorry size

Box and curtainsider

A box body uses its specified door opening and loading arrangement. A curtainsider can allow suitable forklift loading from the side. Check clear aperture, side access and restraint; curtains alone are not a universal load-securing system.

Flatbed, crane and mounted forklift

Long material, machinery or a delivery without a forklift may need a different body or handling method. A HIAB-type crane and MOFFETT-type forklift do different jobs. Supply load weights, lifting points or fork access, required reach and site photographs.

Temperature-controlled loads

Specify the product, required temperature, collection condition, packaging and monitoring or handover records. A refrigeration unit changes the vehicle specification; confirm its actual payload and space.

Articulated and specialist trailers

Curtainsider, box, refrigerated, flatbed and specialist trailer requirements are assessed individually. A long or heavy item needs its full dimensions, weight distribution and loading plan checked. The illustrated range does not establish suitability for every load.

Getting it off matters just as much

Confirm a forklift, loading dock, tail lift or other agreed equipment at both ends. For a tail-lift delivery, we need the individual item weight, footprint, all weight on the platform, permitted handling method, load centre and the surface beyond the lift.

When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement. Lower weights can also need powered handling. A tail lift and pallet truck do not automatically solve gravel, slopes, steps or an unsuitable pallet.

Read our tail-lift and pallet-truck guidance.

Timed deliveries and urgent haulage

A booked goods-in slot at a St Albans commercial unit, a factory shutdown or a construction delivery needs more than an arrival postcode. Send the booking reference, goods entrance, vehicle limits, loading method and a contact who can accept the load.

Urgent rigid or artic capacity can be assessed by our team. It does not carry the van collection estimate. Vehicle positioning, loading time, traffic, site appointments and applicable driver-hours limits determine the plan. UK, Ireland and European freight may also need ferry and goods-document arrangements.

Local work. Different requirements.

Transport shaped
by St Albans.

St Albans combines a busy city centre with office, light-industrial and distribution areas. Nearby research and engineering destinations have their own locations and receiving procedures. Dedicated courier movements travel between agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. The following local examples help identify the goods, packing and receiving information needed for an enquiry.

Commercial and industrial units

Established employment areas

The council identifies Alban Park, Brick Knoll Park, Porters Wood and North Orbital Trading Estate among its employment locations. Individual units may need boxed stock, tools, protected equipment or suitable pallets moved.

Give the current tenant, goods gate, slot and loading equipment. Confirm side or rear access, safe standing space and individual weights. An employment-area designation does not establish facilities at a particular receiving point.

A clear receiving plan

City-centre retail and professional services

St Albans shops, hospitality businesses and offices can require stock, print, fixtures or IT equipment at an agreed time. Public opening hours are different from freight receiving availability.

Supply the actual service entrance, named recipient, floor and apertures. Check current street loading restrictions and any access time. Extra crew, installation and final placement need agreement before booking.

Harpenden location kept distinct

Nearby agricultural research

Rothamsted Research identifies its Harpenden site and analytical facilities, separate from St Albans city. Suitable enquiries may involve protected instruments, ordinary site supplies or properly declared materials.

Confirm the receiving team, exact contents, packaging and reference. Samples, chemicals, batteries and temperature requirements need separate assessment before acceptance. Research activity does not imply automatic handling approval or a Synergix relationship.

Postal address versus works location

Wider Hertfordshire precision engineering

Markyate Precision Machining identifies high-precision subcontract engineering and aerospace and defence markets. Its works are in Markyate, with a St Albans postal address, rather than the city centre.

For suitable ordinary tooling, fixtures or protected parts, supply full packed dimensions and weights, finish protection and handling. Declare controlled contents or security requirements before acceptance. A supplier's market does not establish Synergix clearance.

Named organisations describe the local economy. They are not claims of Synergix customers, clearances or site approval.

The last mile matters

Routes, loading
& site access.

St Albans connects through the M1, M25 and A414, with the final approach depending on the recipient. Confirm the complete approach, actual goods gate and unloading point for the assigned vehicle. A geographic map does not establish HGV access or permission to enter a controlled site.

M1, M25, A414 and the correct destination

St Albans-area jobs may use M1, M25 and A414 connections depending on the recipient. City streets, Park Street and northern employment units have different final approaches.

Obtain current goods directions and vehicle limits, including bridges, gate widths and turning space. Check major-road conditions for the job date. A geographic map is not an HGV routing instruction.

City loading bans and permitted bays

St Albans Council explains that active unloading and parking are different, with loading bans and excluded bays limiting where a vehicle can stop. Restrictions and safe access are specific to the location.

Check current signs and the council's loading guidance. Agree the lawful service entrance and slot. Do not treat a general loading exemption or an observation period as unrestricted parking.

Alban Park, Porters Wood and individual units

For commercial estates, supply the current business, unit, receiving reference and actual bay. The main park entrance or office reception may not be the goods handover point.

Confirm forklift availability, side or rear loading, usable bay height, safe surface and turning space for the assigned vehicle. Tail-lift unloading still requires a suitable position and an agreed plan to move goods horizontally.

Research sites and neighbouring locations

Rothamsted receiving in Harpenden and precision engineering in Markyate require their own site contacts and approach. A shared county or postal town does not make them St Albans city-centre destinations.

Obtain current permission, release status and receiving instructions. For any building, describe steps, kerbs, lift limits and final placement. Declare controlled contents and agree additional crew or equipment before dispatch.

A useful enquiry. A clearer quote.

Tell us the job.
We will help plan it.

  1. The two addressesCollection and delivery postcodes, company/unit names, goods entrances and a contact at each end.
  2. What needs movingGoods description, item or pallet count, packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, stackability and photographs where useful.
  3. When it is readyDate, ready time, latest arrival, goods-in closing time and any booked slot or reference. Identify fixed deadlines.
  4. How it will be handledForklift, dock, tail lift, pallet truck, crane or crew at both ends. Include surface, aperture and vehicle-access limits.
  5. Any special requirementFragile finish, temperature, regulated goods, multiple stops, returnable packaging, returns or agreed final placement.
  6. Updates and repeat workYour preferred contact, delivery evidence and, for regular transport, frequency, expected volumes and seasonal peaks.

What affects the price?

Vehicle positioning, loaded distance, vehicle/body type and time at collection and delivery all contribute. Waiting, additional stops, handling equipment, extra labour, route charges and a return journey can alter the quote.

For ferry or European work, route timing and goods-document requirements also matter. We quote the actual movement; there is no single St Albans mileage price that fits every load.

What happens if something changes?

Tell us promptly about an extra pallet, heavier item, delayed release, changed entrance or missed slot. We can reassess the vehicle, deadline and cost before an unsuitable arrangement causes a problem.

An enquiry is the start of the conversation. Vehicle allocation, timing, handling and price are confirmed for the booking.

Before you book

St Albans transport
questions answered.

Courier, timing and delivery

How quickly can you collect in St Albans?

A van collection may be possible in around 45 minutes, subject to the address, goods and a suitable available vehicle. Call with the ready time and deadline for an estimate. Lorries, refrigerated vehicles and specialist equipment need their own availability and positioning check.

Can you deliver from St Albans to London on the same day?

It may be possible, depending on when the goods are ready, loading time, vehicle position, road conditions and the receiver’s latest acceptance time. Give us both addresses and the actual deadline. We assess the complete movement before confirming a plan.

Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?

A dedicated courier movement normally stays on the same vehicle between the agreed collection and delivery points, without a parcel-network sorting hub. Tell us about additional stops, a return collection or any unusual route requirement so the arrangement is clear before booking.

Can I call at night, at weekends or on bank holidays?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7/365. Call to discuss the movement and confirm the suitable vehicle, handling and receiving arrangements. Someone must be available to release the goods and accept them at the proposed times.

How will I know the goods have been delivered?

Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the updates and receiving evidence you need when booking, including any named-recipient, signature, photograph or delivery reference requirement.

What happens if collection is delayed or the delivery slot changes?

Contact our team promptly. A later release, changed receiving slot or additional waiting can affect the vehicle, driver schedule, arrival plan and cost. Give us the new ready time and receiver’s instructions so we can reassess the movement.

Haulage, vehicles and handling

Do I need a courier or a haulage service?

Start with what needs moving and the deadline. An urgent component, parcel or suitable pallet may need a dedicated courier. Heavier freight, larger volumes, specialist bodies or repeat work may need a haulage arrangement. Send the load details and we will help you choose.

Can you arrange dedicated pallet transport in St Albans?

Yes, we assess dedicated pallet movements with the vehicle, collection and delivery agreed for the job. Send the loaded footprint, height, individual weights, quantity, stackability and unloading arrangements. Synergix does not offer pallet-network services.

Can you arrange full loads, part loads and regular haulage?

We can discuss full loads, regular work and supported part-load arrangements. The collection window, delivery plan, body, loading method and availability must suit the job. A part-load enquiry is assessed individually; it is not a pallet-network product.

How do I choose the right van or lorry?

Measure each item as it will travel, including packaging, the pallet and any overhang. Give the quantity, individual and total weights, stackability and any orientation limit. We check the actual load space, aperture, working payload, equipment and site access. Vehicle gross weight is not cargo payload.

Can I use LoadCheck before asking for a quote?

Yes. Enter packaged dimensions, item weights and quantities for an initial vehicle-size estimate. Send the result with your enquiry. LoadCheck does not confirm actual vehicle fit, restraint, loading equipment, payload, availability or a booking.

Open LoadCheck

What if the receiving site has no forklift?

Tell us before booking. A suitable tail lift, mounted forklift, crane or agreed handling crew may be an option, but they solve different problems. We need the item weights, dimensions, fork access or lifting points, surface and final placement. Equipment does not come with every vehicle.

When must I request an electric pump truck?

Under Synergix’s booking rule, request an electric pump truck when pallet-truck handling is required for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more. Lighter pallets can need powered handling too. Check the lift and platform capacity, footprint, all weight on the platform, ground and handling method. The threshold is not automatic proof of safe handling.

Do goods need packaging for a dedicated journey?

Yes, they need packaging suitable for the goods and the planned handling. A dedicated vehicle does not remove the risk of movement during loading and travel. Protect fragile surfaces, sharp edges and delicate equipment; tell us about upright-only, non-stackable or special restraint requirements.

Can you provide refrigerated transport or event refrigeration?

We can assess both, with the product, temperature and handover requirements agreed. Refrigerated road transport moves goods under an agreed temperature arrangement. Stationary event refrigeration provides storage at a venue. Explain which you need, the duration, access and any power requirement.

St Albans access and local handovers

Will the driver load and unload at a St Albans unit?

Handling is agreed for the job. Give individual weights and sizes, loading equipment, surface and access at both ends. We confirm what the driver can safely do and whether a tail lift, forklift, extra crew or another arrangement is needed.

Can you collect from research premises in Harpenden?

Suitable enquiries can be assessed with the exact site, receiving team and reference. Declare the contents, packaging, weights and any chemical, battery, temperature or controlled-material requirements before acceptance. Harpenden is a separate destination from St Albans city.

Does a St Albans postcode identify a city-centre collection?

Give the complete business and works address. Some wider Hertfordshire businesses use St Albans postal details while their premises are in another place, such as Markyate. We need the actual gate, releasing contact and receiving plan for the vehicle.

Can you unload outside a St Albans shop?

We assess the load and deadline against the lawful unloading point and current restrictions. Supply the service entrance, access time, stairs and doorway limits. Loading bans and excluded bays still apply, and extra handling or crew must be agreed.

Price, booking and ongoing work

What affects the price of a St Albans courier or haulage job?

Vehicle positioning, route distance, body and vehicle type, waiting, unloading, handling equipment, additional stops and the deadline affect the quote. Give accurate load and site details. Tell us about changes before dispatch so we can explain any effect on the arrangement or price.

What information do you need to book?

Send both full addresses and goods entrances, contact details, ready time and latest delivery time, item quantities, packaged dimensions, individual and total weights, stackability and loading equipment at both ends. Include access restrictions, references, photographs and any special handling or temperature requirement.

Can you discuss regular deliveries, warehousing or two-person work?

Yes. Give your usual route, frequency, volumes, receiving windows and seasonal peaks. Warehousing, cross-docking, retail distribution and agreed two-person delivery can be considered as part of a wider arrangement. Storage location, handling scope, availability and commercial terms are agreed separately.

Does sending an enquiry confirm my booking?

No. An enquiry starts the discussion. The vehicle, collection and delivery plan, handling, price and booking acceptance must be confirmed. A generated enquiry reference or LoadCheck result does not establish vehicle allocation or successful email delivery.
