Your load.
The right vehicle.

Browse the van, rigid, articulated and specialist options, then open a vehicle guide for dimensions, body types and loading advice. You can ask for a particular vehicle or let us work from your load details.

Vehicle illustrations show example bodies. We confirm the actual vehicle, usable space, payload and equipment for your booking. Specialist configurations are subject to suitability and availability.

01 / Same-day & dedicated courier

Cambridge courier.
A direct delivery.

A missing component, protected instrument or urgent commercial delivery needs more than a Cambridge postcode. We arrange dedicated collection and delivery between agreed addresses, without a parcel-network sorting hub, checking the goods, release time and recipient's deadline together.

Instruments, parts and research equipment

Cambridge's technology and research sites can generate enquiries for boxed components, tools, test equipment and protected instruments. Identify the building, department and authorised recipient, then send packed sizes, individual weights and handling instructions.

Tell us about delicate finishes, upright-only cases, batteries, chemicals or controlled contents before acceptance. A laboratory address does not establish that every sample or regulated consignment is suitable for an ordinary courier.

Commercial stock and suitable pallets

Print, IT equipment, shop stock and suitable palletised goods can need a dedicated vehicle. Include quantity, loaded footprint, height and weight. Check the door aperture, loading method and protection as well as floor space.

For heavier equipment, bulky fittings or a site without a forklift, describe handling at both ends. Our haulage guidance explains the larger bodies and equipment. You can ask us to assess the load without choosing a lorry first.

Collection readiness and the receiving deadline

A campus goods-in appointment, college receiving desk or city-centre loading restriction can control the handover. Confirm when the packed goods can be released and when the named recipient can accept them. General visitor opening hours are not freight receiving hours.

Call with both addresses and the actual deadline. We confirm a suitable available vehicle and a realistic collection estimate for your job. Specialist bodies and heavier vehicles need their own availability check.

Local collection and onward UK delivery

Collections can be assessed from the historic centre, Chesterton, Cambridge Science Park, the Biomedical Campus, Newmarket Road and nearby business addresses. A local campus transfer and a same-day London request need separate route and deadline assessments.

Give the exact unit, goods entrance, release contact and recipient. A public reception or visitor entrance may not be the freight handover point.

Updates, delivery evidence and regular routes

Our team remains your contact. Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available; agree the named recipient, signature, photograph or reference requirements when booking.

Scheduled supplier collections, branch transfers, multiple stops and repeat courier routes can be assessed. Phones are answered 24/7/365. Timing and loading at every stop are confirmed for the booking.

02 / General & dedicated haulage

Cambridge haulage.
Planned around the load.

For dedicated pallet transport, engineering equipment, campus supplies or a regular stock movement, Synergix arranges the vehicle and driver around your load, handling and receiving requirements. Options include 7.5t, 18t and 26t rigids, full artics and suitable specialist configurations.

Dedicated pallet transport

Tell us the actual loaded footprint, height, weight and whether the freight can be stacked. A nominal pallet size does not include a crate, machine or packaging that projects beyond it.

We arrange a dedicated vehicle for your palletised goods, with collection, delivery and loading agreed for your job. Our team coordinates the movement and remains your point of contact. Tell us about fragile freight, specific handling or a timed delivery when booking.

Full loads, part loads and repeat work

A full vehicle can support larger consignments, stock transfers, production schedules and loads needing dedicated capacity. Agree the body, floor space, payload and loading order.

Part-load haulage can also be discussed where a suitable arrangement is available. Agree its collection window, delivery plan and handling before booking. For regular work, send your collection frequency, usual volumes, busy periods, site opening hours and return-load requirements.

Choose the body as well as the lorry size

Box and curtainsider

A box body uses its specified door opening and loading arrangement. A curtainsider can allow suitable forklift loading from the side. Check clear aperture, side access and restraint; curtains alone are not a universal load-securing system.

Flatbed, crane and mounted forklift

Long material, machinery or a delivery without a forklift may need a different body or handling method. A HIAB-type crane and MOFFETT-type forklift do different jobs. Supply load weights, lifting points or fork access, required reach and site photographs.

Temperature-controlled loads

Specify the product, required temperature, collection condition, packaging and monitoring or handover records. A refrigeration unit changes the vehicle specification; confirm its actual payload and space.

Articulated and specialist trailers

Curtainsider, box, refrigerated, flatbed and specialist trailer requirements are assessed individually. A long or heavy item needs its full dimensions, weight distribution and loading plan checked. The illustrated range does not establish suitability for every load.

Getting it off matters just as much

Confirm a forklift, loading dock, tail lift or other agreed equipment at both ends. For a tail-lift delivery, we need the individual item weight, footprint, all weight on the platform, permitted handling method, load centre and the surface beyond the lift.

When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement. Lower weights can also need powered handling. A tail lift and pallet truck do not automatically solve gravel, slopes, steps or an unsuitable pallet.

Read our tail-lift and pallet-truck guidance.

Timed deliveries and urgent haulage

A booked goods-in slot at a Cambridge research building, a factory shutdown or a construction delivery needs more than an arrival postcode. Send the booking reference, goods entrance, vehicle limits, loading method and a contact who can accept the load.

Urgent rigid or artic capacity can be assessed by our team. It does not carry the van collection estimate. Vehicle positioning, loading time, traffic, site appointments and applicable driver-hours limits determine the plan. UK, Ireland and European freight may also need ferry and goods-document arrangements.

Local work. Different requirements.

Transport shaped
by Cambridge.

Cambridge brings together technology development, biomedical research, university departments and aerospace engineering. These activities create different packing, handling and receiving requirements. The practical examples below help you describe an enquiry without assuming specialist acceptance from the destination alone.

Cambridge Science Park

Technology and product-development equipment

The Park's current directory and FAQ describe science, technology, engineering and life-science businesses. An enquiry may involve a protected prototype, instrument case, boxed electronics or equipment for an office or laboratory.

Contact the actual tenant for its unit and goods entrance. Provide packaging, packed dimensions and weights, with upright-only, fragile or battery instructions. Park-wide directions do not establish a tenant's receiving arrangements.

Cambridge Biomedical Campus

Research buildings and healthcare suppliers

The Campus brings together commercial life science, academic research and healthcare organisations. Suitable enquiries can include equipment, furniture, IT hardware and ordinary site supplies, each with a specific building and receiving team.

Declare temperature-sensitive products, biological materials and regulated contents before acceptance. A hospital or research address does not give an ordinary courier permission to carry every clinical consignment or enter every loading area.

Newmarket Road aerospace activity

Engineering parts and agreed site supplies

Marshall's current material identifies Cambridge airport premises and continuing aerospace activity, while recording recent business and property changes. For an engineering enquiry, use the current operating business and its precise receiving instructions.

Tooling, protected components and ordinary maintenance equipment need packed weights and handling details. Defence-related site activity does not establish Synergix clearance, airside access or acceptance of weapons, ammunition or controlled goods. Such requirements need separate assessment.

Colleges, shops and events

Named recipients and timed unloading

University buildings, historic-centre retailers and event venues can require smaller vehicles, a booked unloading point and a named contact. Send the college, department, shop or venue rather than a broad city-centre address.

Agree stairs, lifts, room placement, crew and any return collection in advance. The delivery vehicle must have a lawful approach and loading position; a short distance from the building is not permission to stop or unload.

Named organisations describe the local economy. They are not claims of Synergix customers, clearances or site approval.

The last mile matters

Routes, loading
& site access.

The M11 and A14 provide onward connections, but Cambridge's final approach can involve controlled streets, campus gates and separate goods entrances. Confirm a lawful route and receiving point for the assigned vehicle before dispatch.

M11, A14 and the final approach

Choose the approach to the actual business, not a generic route into Cambridge. The M11 and A14 serve different sides of the city and its surrounding commercial areas. Road conditions, vehicle size and the final street still control suitability.

Share known height or weight restrictions, narrow turns, gate dimensions and yard space. A passenger-car route or area map does not certify HGV clearance. Check current signs and the site's instructions for the complete journey.

Historic-centre access and loading

The county council distinguishes permanently controlled streets, timed historic-centre restrictions and the separate King's Parade security barrier. Loading permissions vary by street and time. Do not apply one general loading window to every Cambridge address.

Get the receiving business's lawful approach and unloading instructions, then check current council access and loading guidance. A delivery booking is not an access permit or exemption.

Science Park and campus receiving

Provide the tenant or organisation, numbered building, department, goods entrance and slot or reference. Cambridge Science Park and the Biomedical Campus contain multiple independent recipients; a campus postcode may lead to the wrong entrance.

Confirm security, driver-detail, PPE or induction requirements, with the releasing contact and loading equipment. Do not use visitor parking instructions as a freight plan. Report a delayed release before it affects a booked receiving time.

Aerospace and airport premises

For a Newmarket Road engineering or airport-site delivery, obtain the current business name, landside goods gate and receiving reference directly. A passenger entrance or general airport contact does not identify a freight handover.

Confirm any controlled access, escorts, documentation and acceptance requirements before dispatch. Road transport does not automatically include airside permission or specialist clearances. Changes to site ownership do not replace the recipient's current instructions.

Colleges, retail and final placement

A historic building can have a narrow service entrance, stairs or limited space for pallet movement. Send the unloading point, aperture and ground details, plus photographs for an awkward approach.

Specify whether the job ends at the agreed goods-in point or needs additional crew and placement. A tail lift does not provide horizontal movement through a doorway or across uneven paving. Crew scope and equipment must be agreed.

Villages, larger loads and current conditions

Milton, Histon, Fulbourn and other surrounding settlements are separate collection addresses with their own road approaches. Identify the actual site, permitted vehicle size and turning space, especially for rural premises.

Check official major-road conditions for the job date. Share current roadworks or access notices from the recipient. Loading time, waiting and the driver's available working time affect a timed movement.

  1. The two addressesCollection and delivery postcodes, company/unit names, goods entrances and a contact at each end.
  2. What needs movingGoods description, item or pallet count, packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, stackability and photographs where useful.
  3. When it is readyDate, ready time, latest arrival, goods-in closing time and any booked slot or reference. Identify fixed deadlines.
  4. How it will be handledForklift, dock, tail lift, pallet truck, crane or crew at both ends. Include surface, aperture and vehicle-access limits.
  5. Any special requirementFragile finish, temperature, regulated goods, multiple stops, returnable packaging, returns or agreed final placement.
  6. Updates and repeat workYour preferred contact, delivery evidence and, for regular transport, frequency, expected volumes and seasonal peaks.

What affects the price?

Vehicle positioning, loaded distance, vehicle/body type and time at collection and delivery all contribute. Waiting, additional stops, handling equipment, extra labour, route charges and a return journey can alter the quote.

For ferry or European work, route timing and goods-document requirements also matter. We quote the actual movement; there is no single Cambridge mileage price that fits every load.

What happens if something changes?

Tell us promptly about an extra pallet, heavier item, delayed release, changed entrance or missed slot. We can reassess the vehicle, deadline and cost before an unsuitable arrangement causes a problem.

An enquiry is the start of the conversation. Vehicle allocation, timing, handling and price are confirmed for the booking.

Before you book

Cambridge transport
questions answered.

Courier, timing and delivery

How quickly can you collect in Cambridge?

A van collection may be possible in around 45 minutes, subject to the address, goods and a suitable available vehicle. Call with the ready time and deadline for an estimate. Lorries, refrigerated vehicles and specialist equipment need their own availability and positioning check.

Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?

A dedicated courier movement normally stays on the same vehicle between the agreed collection and delivery points, without a parcel-network sorting hub. Tell us about additional stops, a return collection or any unusual route requirement so the arrangement is clear before booking.

Can I call at night, at weekends or on bank holidays?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7/365. Call to discuss the movement and confirm the suitable vehicle, handling and receiving arrangements. Someone must be available to release the goods and accept them at the proposed times.

How will I know the goods have been delivered?

Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the updates and receiving evidence you need when booking, including any named-recipient, signature, photograph or delivery reference requirement.

What happens if collection is delayed or the delivery slot changes?

Contact our team promptly. A later release, changed receiving slot or additional waiting can affect the vehicle, driver schedule, arrival plan and cost. Give us the new ready time and receiver’s instructions so we can reassess the movement.

Haulage, vehicles and handling

Do I need a courier or a haulage service?

Start with what needs moving and the deadline. An urgent component, parcel or suitable pallet may need a dedicated courier. Heavier freight, larger volumes, specialist bodies or repeat work may need a haulage arrangement. Send the load details and we will help you choose.

Can you arrange dedicated pallet transport in Cambridge?

Yes, we assess dedicated pallet movements with the vehicle, collection and delivery agreed for the job. Send the loaded footprint, height, individual weights, quantity, stackability and unloading arrangements. Synergix does not offer pallet-network services.

Can you arrange full loads, part loads and regular haulage?

We can discuss full loads, regular work and supported part-load arrangements. The collection window, delivery plan, body, loading method and availability must suit the job. A part-load enquiry is assessed individually; it is not a pallet-network product.

How do I choose the right van or lorry?

Measure each item as it will travel, including packaging, the pallet and any overhang. Give the quantity, individual and total weights, stackability and any orientation limit. We check the actual load space, aperture, working payload, equipment and site access. Vehicle gross weight is not cargo payload.

Can I use LoadCheck before asking for a quote?

Yes. Enter packaged dimensions, item weights and quantities for an initial vehicle-size estimate. Send the result with your enquiry. LoadCheck does not confirm actual vehicle fit, restraint, loading equipment, payload, availability or a booking.

Open LoadCheck

What if the receiving site has no forklift?

Tell us before booking. A suitable tail lift, mounted forklift, crane or agreed handling crew may be an option, but they solve different problems. We need the item weights, dimensions, fork access or lifting points, surface and final placement. Equipment does not come with every vehicle.

When must I request an electric pump truck?

Under Synergix’s booking rule, request an electric pump truck when pallet-truck handling is required for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more. Lighter pallets can need powered handling too. Check the lift and platform capacity, footprint, all weight on the platform, ground and handling method. The threshold is not automatic proof of safe handling.

Do goods need packaging for a dedicated journey?

Yes, they need packaging suitable for the goods and the planned handling. A dedicated vehicle does not remove the risk of movement during loading and travel. Protect fragile surfaces, sharp edges and delicate equipment; tell us about upright-only, non-stackable or special restraint requirements.

Can you provide refrigerated transport or event refrigeration?

We can assess both, with the product, temperature and handover requirements agreed. Refrigerated road transport moves goods under an agreed temperature arrangement. Stationary event refrigeration provides storage at a venue. Explain which you need, the duration, access and any power requirement.

Cambridge access and local handovers

Can you collect equipment from Cambridge Science Park?

Yes, suitable equipment can be assessed. Send the tenant, building number, goods entrance, packed dimensions and weights, release contact and receiving deadline. Declare fragile, battery or regulated contents before acceptance. A Park address does not identify the exact handover.

Can you deliver to a college or historic-centre shop?

Yes, subject to suitable goods, availability and lawful access. Obtain the business's current goods entrance and loading instructions, then check the council's street-specific restrictions. A booking does not provide a permit, and King's Parade has separate barrier controls.

Do you carry every type of laboratory sample?

No blanket acceptance applies. Describe the contents, classification, packaging, temperature and required records before booking. We confirm whether an appropriate arrangement is available. An ordinary courier request or research-campus address is not evidence of regulated-goods approval.

Does an airport-site delivery include airside access?

Airside access is not automatic. Give the current operating business, landside goods gate, reference and receiving contact. Identify any controlled-area, escort or clearance requirements before dispatch so acceptance and access can be confirmed.

Can a same-day delivery from Cambridge reach London?

We assess the actual job from both addresses, release time, packed load and latest receiving time. Traffic, vehicle availability, loading and the destination's access rules all matter. Call with the deadline rather than relying on a generic city-to-city travel time.

Price, booking and ongoing work

What affects the price of a Cambridge courier or haulage job?

Vehicle positioning, route distance, body and vehicle type, waiting, unloading, handling equipment, additional stops and the deadline affect the quote. Give accurate load and site details. Tell us about changes before dispatch so we can explain any effect on the arrangement or price.

What information do you need to book?

Send both full addresses and goods entrances, contact details, ready time and latest delivery time, item quantities, packaged dimensions, individual and total weights, stackability and loading equipment at both ends. Include access restrictions, references, photographs and any special handling or temperature requirement.

Can you discuss regular deliveries, warehousing or two-person work?

Yes. Give your usual route, frequency, volumes, receiving windows and seasonal peaks. Warehousing, cross-docking, retail distribution and agreed two-person delivery can be considered as part of a wider arrangement. Storage location, handling scope, availability and commercial terms are agreed separately.

Does sending an enquiry confirm my booking?

No. An enquiry starts the discussion. The vehicle, collection and delivery plan, handling, price and booking acceptance must be confirmed. A generated enquiry reference or LoadCheck result does not establish vehicle allocation or successful email delivery.
