Your load.
The right vehicle.

Browse the van, rigid, articulated and specialist options, then open a vehicle guide for dimensions, body types and loading advice. You can ask for a particular vehicle or let us work from your load details.

Vehicle illustrations show example bodies. We confirm the actual vehicle, usable space, payload and equipment for your booking. Specialist configurations are subject to suitability and availability.

01 / Same-day & dedicated courier

Bedford courier.
A direct delivery.

Bedford combines town-centre commerce, established industrial units and neighbouring engineering and research destinations. Each enquiry needs the actual operating business, packed load and freight entrance. Dedicated courier movements travel between agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub.

Urgent parts and business equipment

Tools, protected instruments, IT equipment, print and commercial stock can need a dedicated vehicle. For an Elms Farm unit or a neighbouring Kempston business, give the current tenant, releasing contact and actual works address. Complete packed sizes and individual weights determine the vehicle assessment.

Give the exact business, unit, release reference and named recipient. Include complete packed dimensions, individual weights and protection, orientation or no-stacking instructions. Declare batteries, chemicals, fluids and controlled contents before acceptance.

Commercial stock and suitable pallets

Dedicated enquiries can include boxed stock, print, IT equipment and suitable pallets. Include the loaded footprint, overhang, height, quantity and individual weights. A floor-space fit does not establish door clearance, payload or safe loading.

For a heavy assembly, several pallets or a location without a forklift, describe handling at both ends. Our haulage guidance explains larger bodies and equipment. You can ask us to assess the goods without choosing a lorry first.

Collection readiness and the receiving deadline

Confirm when the goods are packed, cleared for release and ready for loading, then identify the recipient's latest acceptance time and any slot. A factory, campus or venue opening time is not automatically freight receiving permission. Tell us about any change before dispatch.

Call with both addresses and the actual deadline. We confirm a suitable available vehicle and a realistic collection estimate for your job. Specialist bodies and heavier vehicles need their own availability check.

Local collection and onward UK delivery

Collections can be assessed from Bedford town centre, Goldington, Putnoe, Elms Farm and nearby Kempston premises. Ampthill, Cranfield and surrounding village destinations are separate locations with their own site contacts and goods gates. A county-wide industry reference is not a Bedford town address.

Give the exact unit, goods entrance, release contact and recipient. A public reception or visitor entrance may not be the freight handover point.

Updates, delivery evidence and regular routes

Our team remains your contact. Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available; agree the named recipient, signature, photograph or reference requirements when booking.

Scheduled supplier collections, branch transfers, multiple stops and repeat courier routes can be assessed. Phones are answered 24/7/365. Timing and loading at every stop are confirmed for the booking.

02 / General & dedicated haulage

Bedford haulage.
Planned around the load.

For dedicated pallet transport, protected equipment, industrial stock or regular commercial loads, Synergix arranges the vehicle and driver around your load, handling and receiving requirements. Options include 7.5t, 18t and 26t rigids, full artics and suitable specialist configurations.

Dedicated pallet transport

Tell us the actual loaded footprint, height, weight and whether the freight can be stacked. A nominal pallet size does not include a crate, machine or packaging that projects beyond it.

We arrange a dedicated vehicle for your palletised goods, with collection, delivery and loading agreed for your job. Our team coordinates the movement and remains your point of contact. Tell us about fragile freight, specific handling or a timed delivery when booking.

Full loads, part loads and repeat work

A full vehicle can support larger consignments, stock transfers, production schedules and loads needing dedicated capacity. Agree the body, floor space, payload and loading order.

Part-load haulage can also be discussed where a suitable arrangement is available. Agree its collection window, delivery plan and handling before booking. For regular work, send your collection frequency, usual volumes, busy periods, site opening hours and return-load requirements.

Choose the body as well as the lorry size

Box and curtainsider

A box body uses its specified door opening and loading arrangement. A curtainsider can allow suitable forklift loading from the side. Check clear aperture, side access and restraint; curtains alone are not a universal load-securing system.

Flatbed, crane and mounted forklift

Long material, machinery or a delivery without a forklift may need a different body or handling method. A HIAB-type crane and MOFFETT-type forklift do different jobs. Supply load weights, lifting points or fork access, required reach and site photographs.

Temperature-controlled loads

Specify the product, required temperature, collection condition, packaging and monitoring or handover records. A refrigeration unit changes the vehicle specification; confirm its actual payload and space.

Articulated and specialist trailers

Curtainsider, box, refrigerated, flatbed and specialist trailer requirements are assessed individually. A long or heavy item needs its full dimensions, weight distribution and loading plan checked. The illustrated range does not establish suitability for every load.

Getting it off matters just as much

Confirm a forklift, loading dock, tail lift or other agreed equipment at both ends. For a tail-lift delivery, we need the individual item weight, footprint, all weight on the platform, permitted handling method, load centre and the surface beyond the lift.

When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement. Lower weights can also need powered handling. A tail lift and pallet truck do not automatically solve gravel, slopes, steps or an unsuitable pallet.

Read our tail-lift and pallet-truck guidance.

Timed deliveries and urgent haulage

A booked goods-in slot at a Bedford commercial unit, a factory shutdown or a construction delivery needs more than an arrival postcode. Send the booking reference, goods entrance, vehicle limits, loading method and a contact who can accept the load.

Urgent rigid or artic capacity can be assessed by our team. It does not carry the van collection estimate. Vehicle positioning, loading time, traffic, site appointments and applicable driver-hours limits determine the plan. UK, Ireland and European freight may also need ferry and goods-document arrangements.

Local work. Different requirements.

Transport shaped
by Bedford.

Bedford combines town-centre commerce, established industrial units and neighbouring engineering and research destinations. Each enquiry needs the actual operating business, packed load and freight entrance. Dedicated courier movements travel between agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. The following local examples help identify the goods, packing and receiving information needed for an enquiry.

Specific industrial receiving

Bedford and Kempston industrial units

Bedford Borough Council identifies current industrial premises at Murdock Road, Singer Way and Brooklands. Elms Farm and neighbouring Kempston units have different tenants, loading areas and final approaches.

For tools, crates, stock or suitable pallets, give the exact business, unit, packed footprint, height and individual weights. Agree loading method and equipment at both ends. A property listing does not guarantee facilities at every address.

Wider county geography

Nearby defence engineering at Ampthill

Lockheed Martin identifies Ampthill as an advanced manufacturing location for complex systems. Ampthill is a distinct Bedfordshire destination, rather than proof of an operating defence factory in Bedford town.

Suitable ordinary supplier enquiries need actual goods, packed sizes and weights, authorised contact and reference. Declare controlled contents and security requirements before acceptance. Local industry context does not establish Synergix clearance or a customer relationship.

Distinct research destination

Cranfield research and protected equipment

Cranfield University identifies its campus near the village, with aerospace research facilities and an airport. The campus is separate from Bedford town and contains individual receiving teams and buildings.

For suitable instruments, tools or ordinary site supplies, give the exact facility and goods gate. Declare batteries, chemicals, samples and temperature needs before acceptance. Visitor travel directions and airport proximity do not grant freight or airside permission.

Everyday business needs

Town retail, offices and markets

Bedford and Kempston commercial businesses can require stock, print, fixtures or IT equipment at an agreed time. The council identifies active markets in the town centres, where traders and public access affect receiving arrangements.

Give the current service entrance, recipient, slot and final placement. Check stairs, lift limits and apertures. Additional crew, installation and return packaging need agreement. Public opening hours are not freight receiving permission.

Named organisations describe the local economy. They are not claims of Synergix customers, clearances or site approval.

The last mile matters

Routes, loading
& site access.

Bedford connects through the A421, A6 and A428, with onward links towards the M1 and A1 depending on the destination. Confirm the complete approach, actual goods gate and unloading point for the assigned vehicle. A geographic map does not establish HGV access or permission to enter a controlled site.

A421, A6, A428 and motorway connections

Bedford connects through the A421, A6 and A428, with routes towards the M1 and A1 depending on the destination. Elms Farm, town-centre and Kempston approaches differ.

Obtain current goods directions, bridge/vehicle limits and turning space. Check major-road conditions for the booking date. A car route does not establish HGV access.

Town-centre unloading and waivers

Bedford Council explains loading restrictions and when a parking waiver may be required, including special arrangements in the pedestrian area. A general parking permit is not unrestricted goods access.

Consult the current council waiver guidance, signs and recipient instructions. Agree a lawful unloading point and access time before dispatch.

Industrial yards and equipment

For Elms Farm, Murdock Road, Singer Way or Brooklands, identify the current business and exact bay. Estate entrances, receptions and loading gates can be different handovers.

Confirm gate width, bay height, safe standing space, side or rear loading and forklift availability. A tail lift lowers goods but still needs a suitable surface and an agreed plan for horizontal movement.

Neighbouring controlled and research sites

Ampthill engineering premises and Cranfield campus facilities require their own receiving references, permissions and approaches. A Bedfordshire postcode or a public visitor map does not identify an authorised goods gate.

Confirm release readiness, current site contact and driver requirements. Declare security or controlled contents before acceptance. Describe ground, steps, lifts, apertures and final placement, with extra crew or equipment agreed.

A useful enquiry. A clearer quote.

Tell us the job.
We will help plan it.

  1. The two addressesCollection and delivery postcodes, company/unit names, goods entrances and a contact at each end.
  2. What needs movingGoods description, item or pallet count, packaged dimensions, total and individual weights, stackability and photographs where useful.
  3. When it is readyDate, ready time, latest arrival, goods-in closing time and any booked slot or reference. Identify fixed deadlines.
  4. How it will be handledForklift, dock, tail lift, pallet truck, crane or crew at both ends. Include surface, aperture and vehicle-access limits.
  5. Any special requirementFragile finish, temperature, regulated goods, multiple stops, returnable packaging, returns or agreed final placement.
  6. Updates and repeat workYour preferred contact, delivery evidence and, for regular transport, frequency, expected volumes and seasonal peaks.

What affects the price?

Vehicle positioning, loaded distance, vehicle/body type and time at collection and delivery all contribute. Waiting, additional stops, handling equipment, extra labour, route charges and a return journey can alter the quote.

For ferry or European work, route timing and goods-document requirements also matter. We quote the actual movement; there is no single Bedford mileage price that fits every load.

What happens if something changes?

Tell us promptly about an extra pallet, heavier item, delayed release, changed entrance or missed slot. We can reassess the vehicle, deadline and cost before an unsuitable arrangement causes a problem.

An enquiry is the start of the conversation. Vehicle allocation, timing, handling and price are confirmed for the booking.

Before you book

Bedford transport
questions answered.

Courier, timing and delivery

How quickly can you collect in Bedford?

A van collection may be possible in around 45 minutes, subject to the address, goods and a suitable available vehicle. Call with the ready time and deadline for an estimate. Lorries, refrigerated vehicles and specialist equipment need their own availability and positioning check.

Can you deliver from Bedford to London on the same day?

It may be possible, depending on when the goods are ready, loading time, vehicle position, road conditions and the receiver’s latest acceptance time. Give us both addresses and the actual deadline. We assess the complete movement before confirming a plan.

Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?

A dedicated courier movement normally stays on the same vehicle between the agreed collection and delivery points, without a parcel-network sorting hub. Tell us about additional stops, a return collection or any unusual route requirement so the arrangement is clear before booking.

Can I call at night, at weekends or on bank holidays?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7/365. Call to discuss the movement and confirm the suitable vehicle, handling and receiving arrangements. Someone must be available to release the goods and accept them at the proposed times.

How will I know the goods have been delivered?

Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the updates and receiving evidence you need when booking, including any named-recipient, signature, photograph or delivery reference requirement.

What happens if collection is delayed or the delivery slot changes?

Contact our team promptly. A later release, changed receiving slot or additional waiting can affect the vehicle, driver schedule, arrival plan and cost. Give us the new ready time and receiver’s instructions so we can reassess the movement.

Haulage, vehicles and handling

Do I need a courier or a haulage service?

Start with what needs moving and the deadline. An urgent component, parcel or suitable pallet may need a dedicated courier. Heavier freight, larger volumes, specialist bodies or repeat work may need a haulage arrangement. Send the load details and we will help you choose.

Can you arrange dedicated pallet transport in Bedford?

Yes, we assess dedicated pallet movements with the vehicle, collection and delivery agreed for the job. Send the loaded footprint, height, individual weights, quantity, stackability and unloading arrangements. Synergix does not offer pallet-network services.

Can you arrange full loads, part loads and regular haulage?

We can discuss full loads, regular work and supported part-load arrangements. The collection window, delivery plan, body, loading method and availability must suit the job. A part-load enquiry is assessed individually; it is not a pallet-network product.

How do I choose the right van or lorry?

Measure each item as it will travel, including packaging, the pallet and any overhang. Give the quantity, individual and total weights, stackability and any orientation limit. We check the actual load space, aperture, working payload, equipment and site access. Vehicle gross weight is not cargo payload.

Can I use LoadCheck before asking for a quote?

Yes. Enter packaged dimensions, item weights and quantities for an initial vehicle-size estimate. Send the result with your enquiry. LoadCheck does not confirm actual vehicle fit, restraint, loading equipment, payload, availability or a booking.

Open LoadCheck

What if the receiving site has no forklift?

Tell us before booking. A suitable tail lift, mounted forklift, crane or agreed handling crew may be an option, but they solve different problems. We need the item weights, dimensions, fork access or lifting points, surface and final placement. Equipment does not come with every vehicle.

When must I request an electric pump truck?

Under Synergix’s booking rule, request an electric pump truck when pallet-truck handling is required for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more. Lighter pallets can need powered handling too. Check the lift and platform capacity, footprint, all weight on the platform, ground and handling method. The threshold is not automatic proof of safe handling.

Do goods need packaging for a dedicated journey?

Yes, they need packaging suitable for the goods and the planned handling. A dedicated vehicle does not remove the risk of movement during loading and travel. Protect fragile surfaces, sharp edges and delicate equipment; tell us about upright-only, non-stackable or special restraint requirements.

Can you provide refrigerated transport or event refrigeration?

We can assess both, with the product, temperature and handover requirements agreed. Refrigerated road transport moves goods under an agreed temperature arrangement. Stationary event refrigeration provides storage at a venue. Explain which you need, the duration, access and any power requirement.

Bedford access and local handovers

Can you assess a Bedford collection that needs two people?

Yes, explain individual weights, packed sizes, stairs, lifts, apertures and final placement. We assess suitable vehicle and crew arrangements before booking. A tail lift does not replace every manual or horizontal handling requirement.

Can you collect from industrial units around Bedford and Kempston?

Suitable jobs can be assessed with the exact business, unit and goods gate. Supply packed dimensions and weights, ready and receiving times, loading equipment and vehicle access. Facilities vary between addresses.

Does a Bedford booking include entry to Ampthill or Cranfield sites?

Entry needs current permission and agreed receiving instructions for the exact site. Give the goods, facility, reference and named contact, with security or controlled contents declared. Ampthill and Cranfield are separate destinations from Bedford town.

Can you unload in Bedford town centre for a timed delivery?

We assess the load, deadline and lawful unloading position. Confirm current loading restrictions, pedestrian access and any waiver arrangements with the recipient. Provide the service entrance and building limits, with extra handling and crew agreed before booking.

Price, booking and ongoing work

What affects the price of a Bedford courier or haulage job?

Vehicle positioning, route distance, body and vehicle type, waiting, unloading, handling equipment, additional stops and the deadline affect the quote. Give accurate load and site details. Tell us about changes before dispatch so we can explain any effect on the arrangement or price.

What information do you need to book?

Send both full addresses and goods entrances, contact details, ready time and latest delivery time, item quantities, packaged dimensions, individual and total weights, stackability and loading equipment at both ends. Include access restrictions, references, photographs and any special handling or temperature requirement.

Can you discuss regular deliveries, warehousing or two-person work?

Yes. Give your usual route, frequency, volumes, receiving windows and seasonal peaks. Warehousing, cross-docking, retail distribution and agreed two-person delivery can be considered as part of a wider arrangement. Storage location, handling scope, availability and commercial terms are agreed separately.

Does sending an enquiry confirm my booking?

No. An enquiry starts the discussion. The vehicle, collection and delivery plan, handling, price and booking acceptance must be confirmed. A generated enquiry reference or LoadCheck result does not establish vehicle allocation or successful email delivery.
