Clear the stockroom. Keep the return identifiable.

Retail returns. A clear way back.

Give returned retail stock a planned route back to your warehouse, supplier or next agreed destination. Synergix can collect during regular store deliveries or arrange a separate movement, with references and quantities kept clear through the handover. Connect returned merchandise, reusable containers and agreed packaging collections without making the store organise each as an unrelated job.

Store-to-warehouse returns

The return deserves the same care as the delivery.

Stock cannot be dealt with properly if its store, status or destination is unclear.

Returned merchandise

Bring stock back through a clear process

Collect declared store returns with the return reference, quantity and destination agreed. Distinguish unsold stock, customer returns held at the store and goods with a reported fault. The collection record supports the next decision without automatically determining resale condition.

Return on the delivery route

Use the visit already being made

Combine a new stock delivery with collecting goods ready to return. Include the volume and handling in the route plan so vehicle space and payload remain suitable as the load changes.

Separate collection

Move returns when the normal run does not fit

A one-off or dedicated collection can handle an accumulated return, urgent movement or different destination. Give readiness, packing and access details, including who can release the goods.

Consolidation and holding

Group returns for the next step

Suitable goods can come through Northampton for agreed receipt, grouping or holding. Keep store references and return status visible, with any item audit, grading, repacking or onward instruction defined separately.

Goods and practical requirements

Retail return loads we plan around.

Give each stream a clear identity, condition and destination before collection.

  • Unsold and seasonal stock
  • Customer returns held at stores
  • Damaged or incomplete items
  • Reusable delivery containers
  • Store fixtures and display goods
  • Clear plastic and cardboard
Unsold and seasonal stock

Identify the product or carton references, quantities and sending store. Keep reusable stock suitably packed and make the retailer's onward instruction clear, whether return to warehouse, supplier or another agreed location.

Customer returns held at stores

Keep the retailer's return reference with the goods and declare reported condition. We can move the stock under an agreed collection arrangement; refund decisions and the retailer's customer-return policy remain with the retailer.

Damaged or incomplete items

Describe the damage, missing parts, exposed edges, leaks or unsuitable packaging before booking. The team needs to confirm acceptance and handling. A recorded transport handover is not a product fault investigation or a full condition grading.

Reusable delivery containers

Return agreed bag-boxes, totes or other reusable containers for their next dispatch cycle. Declare quantities, folded or loaded size and destination. Keep them separate from merchandise whose return status needs checking.

Store fixtures and display goods

Give dimensions, weight, condition and packaging for returned fixtures or display units. Identify fragile finishes and any dismantling required. Technical disconnection, dismantling and two-person handling must be scoped where relevant.

Clear plastic and cardboard

These can form part of an agreed packaging collection programme. In our established retail operation, collected clear garment plastic and cardboard are recycled through a partner with records held. General waste and other materials are identified separately.

The vehicle follows the job

Explore the wider Synergix fleet.

This fleet overview covers different transport and handling requirements. We match the vehicle, body and equipment to your goods, access and the work booked. A pictured configuration is not automatically suitable for every retail job.

Plan the load and the unloading together

These are body-specific planning guides. Door openings, wheel arches, curtainsider bodies and carried equipment change usable space and payload. For a MOFFETT delivery, confirm load weight and centre of gravity, fork access, suitable ground and the placement area. A carried forklift is different from a HIAB crane or a tail lift.

Use LoadCheck for an initial space estimate, or send the packed dimensions, weights and store access details to our team. Where pallet-truck handling is needed for a loaded pallet of 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. Lighter pallets can also need powered handling where the surface, gradient or carrying distance makes manual movement unsuitable. Actual platform capacity, ground and the unloading route still need checking.

How the service works

Keep the return reference with the stock.

A traceable return handover

Know what left each store.

An identified return is easier for the receiving team to reconcile.

  1. Authorise

Supply the store, return reference, goods and intended destination.

  2. Prepare

Pack and label the return, identify exceptions and confirm it is ready to collect.

  3. Collect

Use the agreed checking and quantity record, keeping different streams distinct.

  4. Hand over

Confirm receipt at the next destination and agree any further holding or redistribution.

Keep the instruction clear

Back to warehouse, onward to a supplier or into another store.

Collection should lead to a known next step.

Retailer or supplier returns

Match the receiving requirements

Give any return authorisation, warehouse appointment and product references needed for acceptance. Keep supplier returns separate from goods intended for the retailer's own stockholding.

Internal stock transfer

Put useful stock where it is needed

Internal transfers within the retail network can be arranged in 24–72 hours depending on service and budget. Identify the sending and receiving stores, quantities and timing so the movement remains clear.

Counts and condition

Agree the depth of the check

Carton counts, visible-condition notes, item audits and product grading are different tasks. Agree what the collection and warehouse teams will record, and who decides whether stock is suitable for resale.

Peak return periods

Plan beyond the outward rush

Allow capacity for seasonal changes and accumulated returns as well as peak deliveries. Provide likely volumes and readiness dates so the stores and receiving warehouse can prepare.

A practical starting point

Booking this service for the first time.

Use the information your warehouse, supplier and receiving team already hold. You can start a discussion before every detail is final, provided estimates and missing information are clear.

Identify the returns

Use the retailer or supplier reference

Tell us the originating store, destination, return reference and reason for return. Keep unsold stock, customer returns and declared damaged goods identifiable. A transport collection does not automatically authorise the supplier to accept or refund them.

Count the collection units

Describe condition and packaging

Obtain carton, pallet, cage or rail quantities with packed sizes and weights. State whether you want carton counts or separately agreed item-level work. Flag damage, leaks or unsuitable packaging before collection so acceptance and handling can be assessed.

Confirm the receiver

Ask where and when returns are accepted

Get the warehouse or supplier returns address, booking requirement and authorised receiving contact. Identify whether stock goes straight back, via agreed Northampton holding or to another store. Do not send unapproved goods to an assumed returns address.

Start with the backlog

Separate a one-off clearance from regular work

A store list, sample return note and photos can help define an initial collection. For ongoing work, add the delivery cycle and typical returns per visit. Mark unknown quantities and tell us who decides what happens if the expected count or condition differs.

An accountable retail partner

A return you can trace.

Stores and receiving warehouses need to know what was collected, where it is going and which reference it belongs to.

Relevant retail work

A service built around the actual operation

Return collections can be connected with regular store deliveries or booked as a separate movement. The chosen method reflects volume, timing and available route capacity.

A practical service plan

Match the work to your requirement

Return references, collection units and destination instructions stay clear. Extra product inspection, grading and refund decisions are not silently included in a transport handover.

Clear handovers

Keep quantities and responsibilities visible

Suitable returns can move directly to the receiver or through agreed Northampton receipt and consolidation. Your team keeps authority over the next destination and release.

Insured and visible

Follow the booked movement

Fully insured transport, live tracking, proof-of-delivery records and our customer portal support the booked movement. Declare goods and value so applicable cover can be confirmed. Portal access does not imply automatic stock alerts, item-level checks or an integration.

People behind the plan

Experience and operational support

Three generations of family transport experience support an owner-led business trusted with demanding retail work. Our operations team is available 24/7, with account management arranged around the contract.

An urgent alternative

Help when stock cannot wait

A separately booked dedicated courier movement can support urgent stock, parts or campaign material. UK-wide courier collections are available within 60 minutes for many bookings, subject to location, vehicle and confirmation. This response does not apply automatically to specialist trucks or port collection.

Make the return journey work

Deliver. Collect. Reuse.

Retail logistics can join the outward delivery and the return requirement in one planned operation.

Productive return legs

Bring something useful back

Plan returns, reusable delivery containers and agreed packaging collections into the returning store route. That uses the journey for more than the outward stock delivery and can reduce separate collection trips, fuel use and associated CO₂ emissions.

Reuse and recycling

Keep materials in the loop

In our established retail operation, collected clear garment plastic and cardboard are recycled through a partner, with records retained. Reusable delivery containers return for the next cycle. Agree materials, separation and collection quantities for your own programme.

Plan the service and price

Tell us how your stores work.

Send a store return list with references, quantities, condition and destinations. Include how the goods will be ready for collection.

  1. Sending storesAddresses, collection windows and the person authorising release.
  2. Return identityReturn references, product or carton details and quantities by store.
  3. Condition and packingReported damage, incomplete items, dimensions, weight and packaging.
  4. Receiving destinationRetailer warehouse, supplier, another store or agreed Northampton handling.
  5. Route arrangementCollection alongside delivery or a separate movement, with readiness dates.
  6. Checking levelCarton count, visible-condition record or separately scoped item handling.
  7. Other return streamsReusable containers, fixtures and agreed packaging, kept clearly separate.
  8. Commercial and reportingFrequency, peak quantities, required records and exception contacts.

A tariff that fits the operation

The return price depends on locations, frequency, load size, condition, handling and the next destination. Collection alongside a delivery can form part of the retail tariff, but it still needs planned space and time. Consolidation, storage, item checks, repacking and additional movements are defined separately where required.

For retail transport and purchasing teams

Assess the service behind the rate.

Use a clear operating brief to compare the service and agree responsibility, records and commercial arrangements before work starts.

Scope and authority

Define what collection does and does not complete

Agree accepted goods, checking unit, packaging, destination and any holding or sorting. Identify who authorises acceptance, grading, onward release or disposal. Refunds and product decisions remain with the retailer unless a different task is expressly agreed.

Traceability

Connect the collection to its return reference

Agree store and return references, counted quantities, handover evidence and the contact for discrepancies. Define any extra item-level checking separately. A carton count does not prove every product inside has been inspected.

Commercial comparison

Include the whole returns route

Compare the same quantities, packaging, collection access and destination. Include holding, sorting, extra handling, waiting or a separate collection where required. Returns added to a store-delivery route still consume space and time.

Supplier set-up

Share approval needs and goods values

Send the returns brief and supplier approval requirements to sales. Discuss applicable cover, intended start date, purchase orders and invoicing requirements with the team. Confirm the receiving party accepts the goods before authorising dispatch.

Read our standard trading terms before booking. Send your programme and supplier approval requirements to sales@synergixsameday.com, or call 01782 911 181 to discuss regular work.

Answers before you book

Retail returns questions.

Practical answers about the service, handling, information and commercial arrangements.

Can you collect returns from our stores?

Yes. Give the store, return reference, quantities, condition and destination. Collections can be included in regular delivery routes or arranged separately.

Can returns travel back on the delivery vehicle?

Yes, where declared and included in the plan. Quantities, dimensions and handling determine the space and payload needed after each drop.

Can you collect customer returns held at the store?

Yes, under an agreed retailer collection arrangement. Keep the return references and condition information with the goods. The retailer retains its customer policy and refund decisions.

Can shoppers send individual parcels directly to you?

Discuss the actual returns operation before directing parcels to us. This page covers arranged retail returns; it does not create an automatic public drop-off address or self-service parcel label service.

Will you inspect and grade every returned item?

Only to the level agreed. Carton counts, visible condition, item checks and resale grading are separate requirements. A transport booking does not automatically include product assessment.

Can damaged stock be collected?

Declare its condition, packaging and any hazards before booking. Acceptance, suitable packing and handling are confirmed for the actual goods.

Can you combine returns from several stores?

Yes. Suitable goods can be grouped through Northampton for an agreed onward movement, keeping store references, quantities and return status clear.

Can stock go directly to another store?

Internal transfers can be arranged within the network in 24–72 hours depending on the service and budget, with the sending and receiving instructions agreed.

Can you return reusable delivery containers?

Yes. Include their quantities and packed or folded size in the return plan so they can circulate for the next delivery cycle.

Can you collect packaging for recycling?

Agreed clear garment plastic and cardboard collections can be included. We confirm the streams, separation and quantities. General waste and other materials need their own arrangement.

Do you handle refunds or exchanges for our customers?

The retailer controls refund and exchange decisions. We can provide the agreed physical collection and movement, with any additional handling scope defined beforehand.

How much does retail return collection cost?

The quote reflects the stores, goods, frequency, handling and destinations. Combined-route collection, separate transport, holding and detailed checks are priced around the agreed operation.
