Know what is held. Know where it is.
Inventory and stock management
Warehouse inventory and stock management in Northampton, using our warehouse management system (WMS). Incoming units receive individual labels or barcodes and assigned locations. Agree the product references, counting units, movement records and stock checks you need, so the information supports your actual stockholding and release decisions.

What Synergix provides
Control the stock, not just the space it occupies.
We hold and identify suitable stock, then agree the checks, movement instructions and stock information your operation needs. Establish the starting quantity, distinguish available goods from held or reserved stock, and define how receipts, releases and count differences are handled. Our existing WMS provides labels or barcodes and assigned locations. Counts, specific status records, reports and integrations are scoped around your requirements.
The details which change the job
Types of stock and storage needs.
The practical guide below explains the details for each requirement.
- Product and unit records
- Receipt and location control
- Reserved and released stock
- Counts and reconciliation
Retail and wholesale reserves
Keep similar products, sizes, colours and case quantities distinguishable while holding reserve stock for later release. Tell us which codes your buying or fulfilment team uses, how much stock changes each week and what information is needed before approving replenishment.
Project and event equipment
Display parts, reusable equipment, cases and project sets need an identity that survives repeated arrivals and releases. Define what makes a complete set and which items are reserved for a named event or phase. A case count is not a contents or functional check unless agreed.
Production and business stock
Manufacturers and business suppliers may need different parts, finished goods or packaging held against their own references. Explain revision, batch, serial or date requirements, along with any hold instructions. These controls are assessed and agreed, not assumed from a generic product description.
The wider Synergix fleet
All vehicles. The right equipment for your job.
Our wider fleet supports different transport and unloading requirements. This overview is not a promise that every configuration performs this service. We match the actual vehicle, body, usable capacity and equipment to the load and receiving site.

Match the handling to the job
A HIAB is a loader crane for an assessed lift or placement. A MOFFETT carries an unloading forklift for suitable loads at sites without receiving equipment. Standard-body dimensions and payload do not apply automatically to fitted equipment or refrigerated configurations. Confirm the actual load, ground, access and handling arrangements.
Our booking rule: when pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. Check the actual equipment and lift/platform capacity, surface, gradient, distance and access. Lower weights can also need powered handling.
How the work happens
Build a usable record, keep movements clear, review differences.
The record needs an agreed starting point and a consistent meaning throughout the stockholding.
Define the stock rules
Agree codes, owners, units, opening checks, special controls, release authority and the information required.
Receive and locate
Check arrivals to the booked level, identify incoming units and assign warehouse locations. Refer missing references or receipt differences.
Follow authorised movements
Use precise stock references and units for agreed picking, relocation, reservation and release work. Explain how changes and held goods are communicated.
Check and reconcile
Carry out agreed counts or stocktakes at a defined time. Review differences against the applicable receipts and movements before the authorised next step.
Provide the agreed information
Confirm the required balance, movement or count output and its period/unit. Review changed products, volumes or controls with the nominated contact.
Warehouse management
An identity and a recorded location.
We use a warehouse management system. Each incoming stock unit receives its own individual label or barcode and an assigned warehouse location.
01
Receipt and references
Provide the owner, product references, expected quantities and arrival booking. Agree the checking unit: sealed pallet, carton or individual item. Visible damage, shortages and unidentified goods need a clear exception procedure.
02
Location and release
Warehouse identification connects the stock unit with its assigned location. Nominate who can authorise release and use precise references and quantities. Counts, reports, batch rules and integrations need their own agreed scope.
| Record | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Starting position | Product BLUE-01: ten sealed cartons received. Supplier declares ten items per carton; item contents not counted unless agreed. |
| Movement | Authorised release of two cartons. Keep the product reference and counting unit consistent. |
| Recorded balance | Eight cartons expected from recorded movements. A later physical count tests that balance at an agreed time. |
| Difference or hold | Refer unidentified, damaged or differing stock for the agreed review. Do not silently treat a reservation or returned unit as available. |
Agree the important details
What changes the arrangement.
A useful quote starts with the constraints, not just a product name or vehicle size.
01
Identify special control rules
Declare batches, serials, expiry dates or first-in-first-out requirements. We need to agree how these are captured and applied rather than assume every stockholding includes every control.
02
Specify reports before promising visibility
Tell us the fields, frequency and recipients you need. Customer portals, automatic alerts, real-time external dashboards and integrations are not promised merely because we operate a WMS.
03
Manage changes deliberately
New products, changed case sizes, relabelled returns and damaged stock affect records. Keep the authorised team informed and agree how exceptions are identified so data and physical stock can be reconciled.
Set up a stock list that both teams can use.
Start with the unit and code
A product code, sometimes called a stock keeping unit or SKU, identifies the specific product or variant. List the owner, code, description and counting unit. Add units per carton where relevant, but distinguish your declared contents from items physically counted.
Bring a starting record
Use supplier packing lists, delivery notes, existing stock records and product specifications. Mark uncertain quantities, sizes or case contents. If you do not have reliable starting data, tell us: an agreed opening count or reference-matching exercise may be needed before useful comparisons can be made.
Decide what information you need
Show us a sample of the stock question or report you need answered. Define fields, counting unit, date/time, movement period, recipients and review frequency. Say how reservations, damaged goods and returns should appear. We will confirm the procedure and supported output before it becomes part of the service.
Ten cartons is not automatically one hundred checked items
For example, ten sealed cartons arrive, each declared by the supplier to contain ten blue components. A carton-level receipt can establish ten cartons without proving one hundred individual components. If two cartons leave, the movement needs to use the same carton unit, leaving eight cartons by the recorded movements. An item-level quantity or contents assurance requires an agreed opening/counting procedure. This is an illustration, not a customer case history.
Practical detail for each requirement
Product and unit records
Supply consistent product codes, descriptions and units such as pallets, cartons or items. Explain case quantities and variants. Similar descriptions are not enough when different finishes, sizes or batches need to remain distinguishable.
Receipt and location control
Incoming stock receives warehouse identification and an assigned location. Link your supplier or order reference to that record as agreed. Define whether we are checking sealed units, counting cartons or inspecting individual products at receipt.
Reserved and released stock
Nominate who may authorise a release and how it should be submitted. Tell us about event, store or project reservations. A forecast or informal request should not be confused with a complete, approved picking instruction.
Counts and reconciliation
Agree whether you need periodic counts, a full stocktake or a specific investigation. Set the scope, unit and reporting format. Differences need an agreed review route; the existence of a barcode does not create a zero-error inventory guarantee.
Why Synergix?
Warehouse control connected to practical stockholding.
Clear warehouse identification, experienced handling and suitable support when identified stock needs to move.
A defined warehouse identity
Individual incoming labels or barcodes and assigned locations are already part of our operation. Building the agreed references and checking scope around that identity helps distinguish what a stock record does, and does not, establish.
Managed access and releases
Discuss planned collections and any evening or weekend requirements with the team. Precise references and authority help make the right stock accessible without suggesting unrestricted warehouse walk-in access.
Experience with demanding programmes
We support national retailers and major event operators, with Northampton warehousing, cross-docking and retail logistics. That wider work informs practical conversations about allocation, access and onward delivery.
Family transport knowledge
Three generations of family transport experience support decisions about loads, vehicles and handovers. Stock movement is planned around the actual goods and receiving arrangements, not only a headline vehicle size.
Suitable onward transport
Courier, general haulage, retail distribution and specialist movements can be discussed where needed. Eligible UK courier collections can be arranged within 60 minutes, subject to the job, location and availability; this is not a stock-count or warehouse-release guarantee.
Clear movement scope
Booked transport is insured, with tracking and proof of delivery available. Confirm applicable cover and evidence. These transport benefits do not replace agreed warehouse receipt/release checks or stock cover.
A useful brief for a useful quote
Show us the goods, units and information you need.
A sample stock list and a typical receipt/release instruction are useful starting points. Unknown details can be marked for discussion.
Stock profile
Owners, product/variant codes, counting units, packaging, sizes/weights and typical/peak quantities.
Movement pattern
Arrivals, turnover, release units, reservations, authorised contacts and any changed or returned stock.
Checks and outputs
Opening/count scope, frequency, special controls, sample fields/report and reconciliation needs.
Commercial requirements
Duration, expected work/peaks, goods value, supplier approval, terms and any transport or preparation.
Email your brief to sales@synergixsameday.com. Confirm acceptance before sending stock.
For buying teams and repeat bookings
Separate standard identity from extra controls
Labels/barcodes and warehouse locations are confirmed. Agree receipt counting, cycle counts (selected stock checks), full stocktakes, special status/batch rules and reports separately. Do not buy an undefined promise of total visibility.
Make the information usable
Define the unit, as-at date/time and what is held, reserved or awaiting a decision. Agree who reviews a discrepancy and authorises any adjustment. The supported process must match the physical checks, not just the headings in a spreadsheet.
Compare the real work
Quote storage space/duration alongside receipts, releases, counts, investigations, reporting/data preparation and any picking or transport. Product-code count, variants, turnover and changing case quantities can affect work even where occupied space is unchanged.
Plan a repeatable handover
Share forecast volumes/peaks, responsible contacts, purchase-order and supplier-approval requirements. Declare goods/value and confirm acceptance, terms and cover. Agree how new lines, changed units and end-of-service balances will be handled; agree any accuracy measures and payment terms for your operation.
Before you book
Inventory and stock management questions.
Practical answers about the service and what to agree.
Do you already use a warehouse management system?
Yes. Our WMS gives incoming stock units their own individual label or barcode and an assigned warehouse location. It is an established part of our warehouse operation, not a proposed future system.
Will you count every individual item?
Only where that checking level is agreed. Receipt by sealed pallet, carton count, item count and condition inspection involve different work. Define the unit and evidence required when setting up the stockholding.
Can you track batches or serial numbers?
State the exact capture and release requirement, including label quality and reporting. We will confirm the supported procedure and scope. Batch or serial control is not automatically included for all stock.
Can your WMS connect to our system?
Describe the software, data, frequency and operational workflow. Any connection needs separate assessment and agreement. No standard API, ecommerce integration or live customer dashboard is promised here.
What if the stock count differs from our records?
We agree a reconciliation process, checking unit and authorised contact. Receipt paperwork, movements and any count work can be reviewed as appropriate. Do not assume every sealed package has previously been item-counted.
How are warehouse goods identified?
Incoming stock units receive their own individual label or barcode and an assigned location in our warehouse management system. Agree the unit, receipt checks and required reports. The WMS does not automatically mean item-level counting, product testing or an external system connection.
Can access be arranged in the evening or at weekends?
Yes, discuss managed access or stock releases with our warehouse team. Confirm the stock references, quantities, authorised person and time. This is planned warehouse access, not unrestricted walk-in access to a self-storage unit.
What affects the price?
Goods, occupied space, duration, handling frequency, checking level and access requirements affect the quote. Declare specialist conditions and peak quantities. Transport, materials and extra warehouse work should be clear rather than hidden in an assumed all-inclusive rate.
How are security and stock cover handled?
We use managed warehouse holding and authorised release arrangements. Declare the stock, value and special risks so acceptance, terms and applicable cover can be confirmed. Insured transport does not automatically define warehouse contents or on-site stock cover.
Can you arrange transport as well?
Yes, suitable collection or onward delivery can be discussed separately. You can also arrange an authorised warehouse collection. Give packed dimensions, gross weights, loading and unloading details, access and required times so the actual vehicle and equipment can be checked.
How often will my stock be counted?
Agree the opening checks and any selected-stock counts or full stocktakes, including frequency, counting unit and movement timing. No automatic perpetual counting programme or annual stocktake is included simply because stock has a warehouse label.
What stock information can I receive?
Show us the fields, units, period and frequency you need. A stock balance, movement summary, reservation list and count comparison answer different questions. We will confirm the supported output and any separate work. No live portal or automatic alert is promised.
Can you hold stock against a project or event?
Give the exact references, quantities, counting units and release authority. Explain whether the allocation should be reserved from other requests and what makes a complete set. We agree the control and change process; an informal forecast is not a picking instruction.
Can you manage furniture, cases and reusable equipment?
Discuss their packaging, identifiers, set contents and condition checks. Individual cases or complete sets may be a more useful control unit than product quantities. Any contents, functional or condition assessment must be specified.
Does a barcode prove every item inside was checked?
No. The recorded receipt/checking unit matters. An individually labelled sealed pallet or carton can remain sealed. If you need contents, individual quantity or condition verified, agree that work and any opening/repacking before receipt.
