When the load needs more planning
For palletised goods, heavier freight, full loads, part loads and repeat transport. The correct body, loading method and receiving appointment matter as much as the journey between postcodes.

A part load can suit a flexible schedule. A dedicated vehicle or full-load arrangement may be more appropriate when timing, segregation or handling requirements demand it.

The smallest suitable vehicle is often the sensible starting point. It still needs enough usable space, payload and handling capacity, with safe access at collection and delivery.

Measure the goods as they travel
Include packaging, the pallet and any overhang in the length, width and height. Give the total freight weight and the weight of each item. Gross vehicle weight, such as 7.5t or 18t, is not the freight payload.
A load can fit inside the body but still fail to pass through the door, exceed the equipment rating or leave insufficient room to secure it. A photograph helps with awkward shapes, but it does not replace measurements.
A pallet count is only a starting point
A standard UK pallet is 1,200 × 1,000 mm; a Euro pallet is 1,200 × 800 mm. The loaded footprint may be larger. Confirm the actual dimensions, whether goods can be stacked, and any orientation restrictions.
Usable pallet positions depend on body dimensions, overhang, weight distribution, restraint space and delivery order. Refrigeration, cranes and mounted equipment can alter useful payload and loading arrangements.
How will it come off the vehicle?
Forklift or loading dock
Confirm that equipment and an authorised operator will be available at the booked time. Side loading may need a curtainsider or flatbed. A dock needs compatible vehicle height and a clear approach.
Tail lift and pallet truck
A tail lift lowers the load; a pallet truck moves it on a suitable surface. Check every weight on the platform, permitted handling method, footprint and load centre. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients need a different plan.
Crane, mounted forklift or a crew
A HIAB-type loader crane lifts; a MOFFETT-type truck-mounted forklift handles supported loads at ground level. Neither is interchangeable with two-person manual handling. Each needs its own access, capacity and operating-space assessment.
Practical Yorkshire & Humber planning
From city loading bays
to Humber terminals.
Plan the whole movement: the M62 corridor, the A1 and M1 connections, the final approach and the time the receiver can accept the goods. Road proximity alone does not establish a workable delivery slot.
Leeds & the West Yorkshire towns
An urgent component in Leeds, a pallet collection in Wakefield and a shop delivery in Halifax need different arrangements. Give the goods entrance, readiness time and any fixed receiving appointment. For Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley, Castleford and Pontefract, include the unit and correct approach road, not just the business postcode.
For repeat collections, share the weekly pattern and delivery sequence. A load that is suitable for a dedicated courier today may need a different plan for regular distribution.
Bradford & city access
Check the assigned vehicle against Bradford’s current Clean Air Zone requirements. A delivery address does not tell us whether the route crosses the zone or whether the vehicle meets the applicable standard. Bradford Council’s current guidance.
Also confirm loading bays, height limits and pedestrian or bus-gate restrictions. Emissions compliance does not give permission to use a restricted street. For Keighley and Ilkley, send the actual receiving entrance and any access instructions.
Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley & Doncaster
For a manufacturing site, construction delivery or warehouse handover, identify who is receiving the goods and which equipment will be available. A side-loaded load needs the correct body and enough operating room at the site.
Sheffield has a Clean Air Zone. Check the actual vehicle and route using Sheffield City Council’s current guidance, alongside local loading and access controls. Do not assume a warehouse postcode or motorway approach resolves the final delivery access.
York: arrange the receiving window first
York’s usual footstreet restriction is 10.30am to 5pm daily, but individual streets have different arrangements. Stonegate has a morning loading window and does not simply reopen to vehicles after 5pm. Authorisation may also be needed. Check the council’s street-by-street footstreet guidance.
For shops, restaurants and venues, agree the permitted arrival, loading point and handover with the receiver before setting the collection time. A tail lift still needs a suitable surface and space to operate.
Harrogate, North Yorkshire & the coast
For Harrogate, Ripon, Skipton, Northallerton and Malton, give the exact address and suitable approach. Rural premises may need photographs of gates, gradients, narrow lanes and turning space. A smaller vehicle only helps if its payload and usable space suit the load.
Scarborough, Bridlington, Beverley and Driffield collections need the same attention to receiving hours and access. Tell us about hotel service yards, seasonal site arrangements or a long distance from the vehicle to the delivery point.
Hull, the Humber & bridge planning
For Hull, Goole, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Cleethorpes and Immingham, identify the correct bank of the Humber and the exact site. A cross-Humber journey can require a different route from a local same-bank delivery.
The Humber Bridge publishes guidance for high-sided and wind-vulnerable vehicles. Check current restrictions for the assigned body and conditions before the journey, allowing for a different route if required. Humber Bridge vehicle and wind guidance.
Port and airport handovers
Hull & Immingham terminals
Give the port, exact terminal, handling agent, cargo reference and confirmed release or acceptance time. Confirm booking and driver-induction requirements with that terminal; procedures are not interchangeable.

Goole, Grimsby & port businesses
An ordinary delivery to a business near the docks and a controlled terminal collection are different jobs. Send the actual goods entrance and receiving contact, including any gate reference or protective-equipment instructions.
Agree customs responsibilities and any specialist trailer or handling requirement before the vehicle is assigned.
Leeds Bradford Airport
For an airport supplier or business handover, name the receiving organisation and exact delivery entrance. Confirm whether the meeting point is landside and what access arrangements the driver needs.
Airport coverage does not automatically include airside access, security clearance, cargo handling or customs services.

Yorkshire and the Humber transport coverage does not mean that every listed town has a Synergix depot or storage facility.
Two-person delivery
For goods needing an agreed crew, explain item weights, the route from vehicle to delivery point, stairs, lifts and the final placement required. Photographs and access measurements help us assess the job.
Two-person delivery does not automatically include unpacking, assembly, installation or removal of packaging. Set out the required tasks so they can be agreed.
Temperature control & event refrigeration
Refrigerated transport needs the goods, required temperature range, collection condition, journey and handover arrangements specified. Confirm any monitoring or documentation requirements when enquiring.
Event refrigeration is a separate requirement for refrigeration at the venue. Share the event dates, access, positioning, power arrangements and collection time. A refrigerated delivery is not automatically an event-hire booking.

What affects the collection and deadline?
Start with when the goods will actually be packed, released and ready to load. The collection estimate depends on a suitable available vehicle, its position, access and any equipment needed.
Onward timing includes the journey, loading and unloading, traffic, receiving slots and applicable driving and working-time limits. There is no reliable universal miles-per-day promise for every vehicle or job.
We assess same-day, overnight, weekend and out-of-hours requirements against those details. Tell us the real deadline, including any earlier goods-in closing time.
What affects the price?
The quote needs to account for vehicle positioning, the loaded journey, vehicle/body choice, relevant route charges and the time involved at both ends. Waiting, extra stops, additional labour, specialist equipment and a return or onward movement can change the cost.
For Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, islands or European movements, give the destination and deadline early. Ferry availability, check-in times, onward access and the goods documentation need to be assessed together. Agree who supplies any customs information and clearance services.
A clear load description and receiving plan reduce avoidable uncertainty. The price is not simply fuel cost multiplied by the distance between two postcodes.

How quickly can you collect in Yorkshire and the Humber?
Courier collection within around 45 minutes can be possible in many mainland UK areas, subject to the address, load and a suitable available vehicle. We confirm the estimate for your actual location. A rural collection, a coastal address or specialist equipment may need more time. This is not a promise of immediate HGV availability or a guaranteed delivery time.
Which Yorkshire and Humber locations do you cover?
The directory includes 35 places, from Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and York to Hull, Doncaster, coastal towns and Humber ports. It also includes Leeds Bradford Airport. Send both postcodes for villages or other addresses around these locations so we can check the complete journey and access.
Can you take an urgent pallet from Leeds to another UK city today?
A dedicated vehicle may suit a single urgent pallet, provided its dimensions, weight, loading and deadline work together. Give the goods-ready time and the receiving cut-off. A long journey also needs to allow for vehicle positioning, handling, traffic and applicable driver limits. There is no universal daily mileage figure that guarantees arrival.
Can you deliver to a shop inside York’s footstreets?
We can assess the job against the exact street and permitted receiving window. York’s usual footstreet hours do not describe every street, and some access needs authorisation. Ask the receiver for the approved delivery entrance, arrival period and unloading arrangements before we plan the collection.
What should I check for Bradford or Sheffield city deliveries?
Send the precise address and goods entrance, any loading window and vehicle limits. The assigned vehicle and route must be checked against current Clean Air Zone requirements as well as ordinary street restrictions. Meeting an emissions standard does not permit driving through a bus gate or stopping where loading is prohibited.
What do you need for a Hull or Immingham freight collection?
Name the exact terminal or agent and provide the cargo reference, release status, collection appointment and receiving contact. Confirm any driver induction, gate or equipment requirements with that operator. Port coverage alone does not include customs clearance, airside access or every type of container movement; agree the full scope before booking.
Can you reach rural North Yorkshire and coastal premises?
Yes, we can assess collections and deliveries beyond the town centres. Send the actual approach, gate width and height, surface and turning space. Tell us about steep gradients or a long carry from the vehicle. A smaller van must still be suitable for the load, and specialist unloading needs its own assessment.
Could Humber Bridge restrictions change the route?
They can. High-sided or wind-vulnerable vehicles need to be checked against the bridge’s current guidance and conditions. An alternative route can affect arrival and cost. Tell us about a fixed receiving appointment so the complete journey can be assessed before the vehicle is committed.
Vehicles, unloading and service choice
Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?
A dedicated movement is normally collected and delivered on the same vehicle, travelling between the agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. Specify any extra stops, return collection or timed handover. If an unusual load or route needs a different arrangement, that should be discussed before booking. Shared or part-load haulage follows its agreed service plan.
Can you arrange evening, overnight or weekend transport?
Yes, we can discuss urgent and planned out-of-hours movements, and our phones are answered 24/7/365. Confirm that someone can release the goods and that the receiver will accept delivery at the proposed time. The suitable vehicle, equipment and driver schedule still need to be confirmed.
Do I need a courier van or a haulage vehicle?
Send the packaged length, width and height, item count, total weight and individual weights. A van may suit urgent parts or a compact load; multiple pallets, heavier freight or particular loading methods can need a rigid or articulated vehicle. We check the body, usable payload, door opening, loading equipment and access together. You do not need to choose the category before enquiring.
Can you deliver pallets without a forklift at the destination?
Possibly, using a suitable tail lift and pallet truck or another agreed handling arrangement. Give the loaded pallet footprint and weight, ground condition and distance to the handover point. Platform size, load centre and every weight carried on the lift must be checked. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients cannot be solved simply by requesting a tail lift.
When should I request an electric pump truck?
When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement, not a universal legal threshold. Lighter pallets may also need powered handling. The pallet, equipment, lift platform, surface and operating space must still be suitable.
Can LoadCheck tell me which vehicle to book?
LoadCheck gives a first estimate using packaged dimensions, weights and quantities. It does not confirm the door opening, available payload, lifting equipment, site access or vehicle availability for a particular booking. Use the result with the load details when you ask our team to confirm the movement.
Regular work, quotes and updates
Can you combine regular collections with storage or retail deliveries?
We can discuss a planned distribution arrangement, including regular haulage, consolidation, storage or retail replenishment. Share the weekly volumes, stop sequence, returns and receiving windows. Our Northampton operation supports warehousing and cross-docking; the Yorkshire directory is transport coverage, not a claim of a depot in every town.
Can you arrange freight from Yorkshire into Europe?
We can assess the route, goods, deadline and handling requirements. Ferry or crossing availability, check-in times and the relevant goods documentation need to be considered with the road journey. Agree who supplies customs information and any clearance service before booking.
How is the transport price worked out?
The quote depends on the actual load, vehicle and equipment, positioning and loaded journey, timing, route charges and time at both sites. Extra stops, waiting, additional crew or specialist handling can alter it. Send both postcodes, dimensions, weights, readiness and deadline for a job-specific quote.
Will I receive tracking and proof of delivery?
Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the contact, update method and any named recipient or delivery-reference requirement when booking. If the load, collection point or receiving slot changes, contact us promptly so suitability, timing and price can be reassessed.
