When the load needs more planning
For palletised goods, heavier freight, full loads, part loads and repeat transport. The correct body, loading method and receiving appointment matter as much as the journey between postcodes.

- Confirm forklift, dock, tail lift or other handling at both ends.
- Include site slots, access limits and any delivery sequence.
A part load can suit a flexible schedule. A dedicated vehicle or full-load arrangement may be more appropriate when timing, segregation or handling requirements demand it.

The smallest suitable vehicle is often the sensible starting point. It still needs enough usable space, payload and handling capacity, with safe access at collection and delivery.

Measure the goods as they travel
Include packaging, the pallet and any overhang in the length, width and height. Give the total freight weight and the weight of each item. Gross vehicle weight, such as 7.5t or 18t, is not the freight payload.
A load can fit inside the body but still fail to pass through the door, exceed the equipment rating or leave insufficient room to secure it. A photograph helps with awkward shapes, but it does not replace measurements.
A pallet count is only a starting point
A standard UK pallet is 1,200 × 1,000 mm; a Euro pallet is 1,200 × 800 mm. The loaded footprint may be larger. Confirm the actual dimensions, whether goods can be stacked, and any orientation restrictions.
Usable pallet positions depend on body dimensions, overhang, weight distribution, restraint space and delivery order. Refrigeration, cranes and mounted equipment can alter useful payload and loading arrangements.
How will it come off the vehicle?
Forklift or loading dock
Confirm that equipment and an authorised operator will be available at the booked time. Side loading may need a curtainsider or flatbed. A dock needs compatible vehicle height and a clear approach.
Tail lift and pallet truck
A tail lift lowers the load; a pallet truck moves it on a suitable surface. Check every weight on the platform, permitted handling method, footprint and load centre. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients need a different plan.
Crane, mounted forklift or a crew
A HIAB-type loader crane lifts; a MOFFETT-type truck-mounted forklift handles supported loads at ground level. Neither is interchangeable with two-person manual handling. Each needs its own access, capacity and operating-space assessment.

The M1, A1, A14 and A50 support very different local journeys. A factory release, a shop loading window and an airport cargo appointment each need their own receiving plan.
Derby, Nottingham & industrial collections
For Derby, Nottingham, Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Swadlincote, give the exact unit and dispatch contact. Tell us when the goods will be released, whether loading is through rear doors or from the side, and whether the receiver has a forklift or dock.
For city-centre shops, offices and venues, confirm the permitted loading entrance and time with the premises. Do not treat a postcode or a car-navigation route as delivery permission.
Leicester & controlled city-centre access
Leicester’s Pedestrian Priority Zone uses controlled bollards and street-specific access periods. Outside allowable hours, pre-registration is required and dispensation is exceptional. Some streets differ from the usual pattern. Check the council’s current street and time table.
Ask the receiver for the correct entry point, permitted unloading period and route out. For Leicester, Loughborough, Hinckley, Coalville and Market Harborough jobs, include the real goods-in cut-off rather than only the day of delivery.
Northamptonshire distribution & regular work
For Northampton, Daventry, Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and Rushden, send warehouse booking references, bay times and load presentation requirements. Confirm pallet labels, delivery order, returns and who will supply the unloading equipment.
Our Northampton operation supports warehousing, cross-docking, retail distribution and two-person delivery. Discuss those requirements as a connected transport plan, including stock volumes, storage duration and the onward schedule.
East Midlands Airport cargo handovers
Confirm the handling agent, cargo facility, reference and release or acceptance time. The airport has multiple cargo operators, and an airline name or passenger-terminal postcode is not enough to identify the correct road handover. Airport information on cargo handling facilities.
Agree the road-transport scope, any driver instructions and who supplies customs information. Airside access, security clearance and customs work are not automatically included in a courier booking.
Lincolnshire, the coast & rural premises
For Lincoln, Boston, Spalding, Sleaford, Grantham and Skegness, share the final approach and goods entrance. Farms, packhouses and rural businesses may need gate dimensions, turning photographs and confirmation of the surface used for unloading.
Temperature-controlled freight needs the required range, condition at collection and handover arrangements specified. An ordinary curtain-sided or box vehicle is not a substitute for an agreed refrigerated movement.
Chesterfield, the Peak District & northern routes
For Chesterfield, Matlock, Buxton, Glossop and Ashbourne, check the actual approach against the vehicle’s dimensions and weight. Derbyshire distinguishes environmental and structural restrictions: a delivery-access exception must not be assumed for a weak bridge. Derbyshire County Council’s weight-limit guidance.
For Alfreton, Mansfield, Worksop, Retford and Newark-on-Trent, include any booked delivery slot and permitted approach. Motorway proximity does not remove site limits, unloading time or the driver’s applicable working limits.

Two-person delivery does not automatically include unpacking, assembly, installation or removal of packaging. Set out the required tasks so they can be agreed.
Temperature control & event refrigeration
Refrigerated transport needs the goods, required temperature range, collection condition, journey and handover arrangements specified. Confirm any monitoring or documentation requirements when enquiring.
Event refrigeration is a separate requirement for refrigeration at the venue. Share the event dates, access, positioning, power arrangements and collection time. A refrigerated delivery is not automatically an event-hire booking.

What affects the collection and deadline?
Start with when the goods will actually be packed, released and ready to load. The collection estimate depends on a suitable available vehicle, its position, access and any equipment needed.
Onward timing includes the journey, loading and unloading, traffic, receiving slots and applicable driving and working-time limits. There is no reliable universal miles-per-day promise for every vehicle or job.
We assess same-day, overnight, weekend and out-of-hours requirements against those details. Tell us the real deadline, including any earlier goods-in closing time.
What affects the price?
The quote needs to account for vehicle positioning, the loaded journey, vehicle/body choice, relevant route charges and the time involved at both ends. Waiting, extra stops, additional labour, specialist equipment and a return or onward movement can change the cost.
For Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, islands or European movements, give the destination and deadline early. Ferry availability, check-in times, onward access and the goods documentation need to be assessed together. Agree who supplies any customs information and clearance services.
A clear load description and receiving plan reduce avoidable uncertainty. The price is not simply fuel cost multiplied by the distance between two postcodes.

How soon could a vehicle reach an East Midlands collection?
A courier collection around 45 minutes can be possible in many mainland areas, subject to location, load and a suitable available vehicle. We confirm the actual estimate. A remote Lincolnshire address, Peak District access or a request for specialist equipment can need more planning than an ordinary van collection near a main route.
Does your East Midlands coverage include smaller towns and villages?
Yes, the 34-location directory includes the main cities, market towns, coastal locations and East Midlands Airport. Send both postcodes for surrounding addresses. Coverage is assessed with the load and access, rather than being a promise that every vehicle can enter every lane or site.
Can a direct courier meet a fixed delivery deadline?
We assess the complete movement from the ready time to the receiving cut-off. Include packing and release time, unloading and any fixed site appointment. A dedicated vehicle avoids a parcel sorting hub, but distance, traffic, driver limits and access still matter. There is no universal daily-mileage promise.
What happens if a Leicester delivery falls outside the loading period?
Do not assume the driver can pass the bollards because the goods are urgent. Check the exact street and current allowable hours with the receiver and council guidance. Any necessary out-of-hours permission must be arranged and confirmed before the transport plan depends on it.
What details identify the correct East Midlands Airport collection point?
Send the handling agent and facility, goods reference, release status, appointment and contact. Confirm the loading method and driver instructions. The passenger terminal is not a substitute for a freight address, and road transport does not automatically include customs services or airside access.
Can you deliver heavy pallets in the Peak District?
We can assess the job once we know the loaded dimensions and weights, exact approach, bridge or road limits and unloading arrangement. Do not rely on a delivery-access exception without checking the restriction. A smaller vehicle is only a solution if its payload and handling remain suitable.
Can Northampton warehousing support a regular delivery schedule?
Yes, we can discuss storage, cross-docking, consolidation, retail distribution and two-person delivery through our Northampton operation. Send volumes, frequency, receiving windows, returns and any final-placement requirements so storage and transport can be planned together.
Can East Midlands freight connect with a port or Europe?
We can assess road movements to ports and European destinations. Give the exact terminal, deadline, goods and release details. Ferry check-in, bookings and documentation need to fit with the road schedule. Agree customs responsibilities and any additional services before committing to the movement.
Choosing, booking and managing the vehicle
Will my dedicated courier delivery stay on the same vehicle?
A dedicated movement is normally collected and delivered on the same vehicle, travelling between the agreed points without a parcel-network sorting hub. Specify any extra stops, return collection or timed handover. If an unusual load or route needs a different arrangement, that should be discussed before booking. Shared or part-load haulage follows its agreed service plan.
Can you arrange evening, overnight or weekend transport?
Yes, we can discuss urgent and planned out-of-hours movements, and our phones are answered 24/7/365. Confirm that someone can release the goods and that the receiver will accept delivery at the proposed time. The suitable vehicle, equipment and driver schedule still need to be confirmed.
Do I need a courier van or a haulage vehicle?
Send the packaged length, width and height, item count, total weight and individual weights. A van may suit urgent parts or a compact load; multiple pallets, heavier freight or particular loading methods can need a rigid or articulated vehicle. We check the body, usable payload, door opening, loading equipment and access together. You do not need to choose the category before enquiring.
Can you deliver pallets without a forklift at the destination?
Possibly, using a suitable tail lift and pallet truck or another agreed handling arrangement. Give the loaded pallet footprint and weight, ground condition and distance to the handover point. Platform size, load centre and every weight carried on the lift must be checked. Gravel, soft ground, steps and steep gradients cannot be solved simply by requesting a tail lift.
When should I request an electric pump truck?
When pallet-truck handling is needed for an individual loaded pallet weighing 800 kg or more, request an electric pump truck. This is Synergix's booking requirement, not a universal legal threshold. Lighter pallets may also need powered handling. The pallet, equipment, lift platform, surface and operating space must still be suitable.
Can LoadCheck tell me which vehicle to book?
LoadCheck gives a first estimate using packaged dimensions, weights and quantities. It does not confirm the door opening, available payload, lifting equipment, site access or vehicle availability for a particular booking. Use the result with the load details when you ask our team to confirm the movement.
How is the transport price worked out?
The quote depends on the actual load, vehicle and equipment, positioning and loaded journey, timing, route charges and time at both sites. Extra stops, waiting, additional crew or specialist handling can alter it. Send both postcodes, dimensions, weights, readiness and deadline for a job-specific quote.
Will I receive tracking and proof of delivery?
Live tracking and electronic proof of delivery are available. Agree the contact, update method and any named recipient or delivery-reference requirement when booking. If the load, collection point or receiving slot changes, contact us promptly so suitability, timing and price can be reassessed.
